Step one: Develop their young talent. A breakout season from Taillon and Polanco with a return to form for Marte would put them in a great spot.

Step Two: Pitching needs to be spot on. If all of the pitchers throw to their maximum expectation they'll win a lot of games

Step Three: Situational Luck. Winning the one run games and controlling games in which they have the lead

Step Four: Every other team in baseball contracts the plague and have to use replacement players from local police and fire stations.

If these 4 things happen the Pirates have a chance to win it all this year.
