Speaking of phones, I’ve been trying to decide what I want to do with mine once I move to Japan. I really like Apple, I’m bought into the ecosystem, so I want to keep my iPhone. However, I also don’t want to go through the hassle of changing many things in my life, so I also want to keep my phone number.
I can keep my phone number by switching to Project Fi, but they don’t officially support iPhone, I’d have to get a Google-approved phone. I think what I’m going to end up doing is switch my phone number to Project Fi to hang on to, and maybe get the most minimal plan possible. Then go to a Japanese carrier and get a real plan with a local number for the iPhone.
The pixel is a decent phone, how married to the ecosystem are you? Just like addresses and phone numbers? Because those are easy to move.

I really like how the iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, and MacBook all work together. The phone seems to be the lynchpin of the rest though: the number feeds iMessage and I do most of my music management through my phone on the go then it syncs to the rest of my devices. Same for email. I know I can do pretty much all the same stuff on Android, but I don’t like Android’s interface in general and I’d have to relearn and migrate everything I do if I were to switch.
On that topic, I’ve been wondering: is music purchased through iTunes locked in to iTunes, or can I move those music files around at will? I’ve never tried but I’m curious If I can move music I’ve bought to a Google Play library.
@godmode Fi also supports the moto x4, a cheaper stock phone without so many frills but it works. if you want a referral link lemme know. It's also $100 off with activation right now.
Music purchased through itunes are just files in a filesystem, you can move them to wherever you want. Whether they will play somewhere else depends on the file format.

I moved my iTunes library across to my Nexus, no problem. Literally a drag and drop.
@schuss if you've still got that refurb in a few weeks I may get in touch, depending on how much I'm gonna have to pay to get this screen replaced.
The annoying thing is that I actually have a replacement screen in the lab, I just don't trust myself not to fuck it up.

Yeah if you're knee deep in all that other stuff I can see the reluctance.
Androids interface does take a good week or so to get used to, but after I stopped hating it outright it's grown on me... if a bit more annoying in general.

Yep, definitely do so, as I have zero motivation to deal with CL right now and it's just sitting on my desk. I may have some work meetings coming up in Boston soon anyhow, to make it that much easier.

The put beef flavouring in the oil for so long, but they said the fries were vegetarian, and apparently the beef flavouring had some actual beef in it, and they got sued.
I know that in Australia the fryer oil is just plain name brand vegetable oil, but in big boxes instead of in little plastic jugs or gallon cans like you get at the supermarket.

What do you do to your burger chain of choice if it turns out they've been surreptitiously adding beef fat to their frying oil?

You suet.
Though after all the lawsuits they had in the '90s they've probably hired even more lawyers. Winning your case these days might be a tallowrder

T-Mobile is officially trying to buy out Sprint for $26 billion in stock. Still has to clear anti-trust regulators but I wonder if a combined T-Sprint would actually have better coverage than AT&T or Sprint? Also it looks like they'll probably clear the FCC this time but I guess there's still question over whether the Justice Department will allow the merger to go ahead.
A standalone VR thing is definitely a good step (not to mention a good price point), it's too bad there's not a lot that's interesting in the Gear VR end right now from my understanding.

Considering that strapping a cyperspace gadget on your head is already part of battletech fiction, I'm kinda surprised that that isn't already a thing.
Also I wish VR were more affordable for a regular person.
The were selling gran turismo sport psvr bundles for like 180 or less around this past Christmas. The only thing it didn't have was the move controllers. Which to me are over priced right now but they do add to the experience on games that support it well.
Also there's the far point gun accessory. That's pretty good. The game is pretty damn good too.

You might have better luck with phones if you stop spitting on the people repairing your phone.

so I guess that's a reasonable starting point.
porn games and 3d porn vids
got it
anyway
i did play VR in our other office that i was visiting and it was fun
I bought it and was genuinely impressed, but sadly I am in the group of people who get disoriented/sick from it
skyrim VR is getting some good reviews in general
I just want a VR mechwarrior or flight sim.
You'd think something like a combat flight sim would be the first big game to come out on VR, but apparently no...
stupidly simple from a programming perspective too
