Ivy always had reasonable 2p and 3p costumes. But no 2p in this game ruins that.
I was particular to her 3p in SC2.
The characters missing fans are rallying for most would be Cass, Hilde, Setsuka, and either Hwang or Yun. Me personally, I need Setsuka back. She was the most interesting SC char ever imo. Yun is my boy though, so hwang or him would also be the best.
Still, I like 2B being in. Nier is such a good game, and she is definitely an iconic character.
I'm glad I got Talim and Raphael in this game, but I'd really like Hilde back.
Is 2B in the season pass? Because that'll push me over the edge on whether I buy it or not.
I don’t understand why they don’t just have Ivy fighting completely naked. It would be far more honest as to what they’re aiming for.
I don't mind female characters wearing revealing outfits, but I always feel the Soul Calibur girls outfits are too ridiculous for the setting and genre they'e in. There a line between 'Okay, this woman wears revealing clothes because it gives her more movement, and maybe she likes to show herself off a little' and 'Jesus Christ put some clothes on, you're fighting people with swords! You are asking to get stabbed in the tits and die of a thousand cuts!' and SC leaps over it every time.
And Ivy's excuse of 'It's okay, I'm totally immortal you guys!' is a bit lame. It's on the same level as Quiet breathing through her skin.
Back to 2B... I think she looks fantastic, and her moveset looks beastly. I'll definitely be shelling out for her.
One wonders if this opens up the floodgates for other guest characters as DLC. Aside from the usual suspects from the big games, I'd love to see an indie character sneak in. Red from Transistor, Shovel Knight, Miriam from Bloodstained...
The incredibly fanservice-y design of female fighting game characters has honestly become a major barrier to me getting fighting games. It's 2018, we shouldn't still have this crap where the male characters are power-fantasy superhunks and the female characters are eye-candy lingerie models. It should not be embarrassing to be seen playing this stuff.

For me, characters like Ivy and Juri aren't the problem. They're femme fatale sadist dominatrix libertine whatever whatever. I still put a formal outfit back on Ivy, but she's at least internally consistent
What really bothers me is when Cammy, the special forces badass, doesn't get to have pants. Or the amount of underboob on wholesome teen characters Mina and Talim.

I won't stop playing a Genre because of female character portrayal, but having been diving back into the community headfirst, well. Lets just say it's obvious what this kind of characterization does to a playerbase. At least I know that this disturbing me now more than it did 15 years ago means I have grown as a person, I guess.

I mean, I normally will defend artistic choice super hard. But sometimes the intent is obvious and sc hasn’t really hidden that fact well. Back in sc2 or sc1 at least, it was there but not obvious. Taki is really the only character who was always over the top but if a game just has one, I can call it artistic choice. That changed around sc4 especially when the all anime female cas chars hit the scene
Being in the sc discord I have never heard the term “waifu” used this much in my life
but when you make every character a hot sexy character in skimpy clothing it makes the ones who are supposed to be The Hot Sexy Character In Skimpy Clothing less impactful and makes them all more boring

Fire Emblem has a bigger waifu problem, I think. It's a shame that all of them are "the sexy one" since it undermines the silliness of characters like Xianghua and Talim who are supposed to be basically children suddenly tasked with saving the world. Taki and Ivy always had issues but Ivy usually had a more conservative second costume in previous games.

The 1P costumes are basically porn in 3 and 5. 4 is okay, but not great. I like the white.
Man, I was literally thinking “2B should be in Soul Calibur” and immediately after looked online and saw the announcement trailer. Did I will it into existence?
I feel like I've done something wrong in this Libra of Souls mode. I'm trying to get my hands on a better weapon that I can use. My character is level 28, the best weapon that I can equip that has ever dropped or been available in shops has been level 13, I'm getting ambushed by level 40-50 mobs when I try to travel around the map, and I'm getting loot drops for level 60 weapons that I'm nowhere near being able to use.
I feel like I'm attacking with a god damn toothpick, and that I need to score a dozen hits to match a single opposing light attack.

Some genres, you have to gird yourself against a certain amount of regressiveness to access the good stuff. Some unfortunate reader might have to encounter Tarot: Witch of the Black Rose before finding Saga.

What weapon style are you using?
I've spent 90% of the Libra mode using Siegfried Clockwork, because it keeps dropping a new, higher level Clockwork for me.
I'm starting to wonder if drops have to do with your weapon choices or performance or something along those lines.
A valiant effort, but it's really not doable with some sort of visor cap.
You also can't have a tank top and booty shorts which is bullshit.
Ironically, SCIV and V had a visor cap that would work perfectly for Poison--but it's a male only item (it's female only counterpart was a pilotka/soft garrison cap). The bad jokes write themselves really.

I'm pretty sure Sophitia didn't do great in her SCV incarnation either. There's one for Ivy too, but it's NSFW. It's not really something that bothers me, but I can understand the complaints. I'm just more miffed about the absence of Setsuka and Hild and other favorites than what is, admittedly, a surprising lack of any costumes, risque or not.

I've been using Geralt's fighting style. I finally limped my way to level 30 and was able to use a level 30 weapon that I looted when I was level 17 or so. Things are easier now that my attacks actually hit for damage.

Man, Sophie's design in Soul Edge was way better than I remember. As one of my favorite characters for the whole series, I wish that design had prevailed.
But still, her SC2 design was pretty good even if it was slightly more revealing than 1.
Also, I knew Ivywent up like 8 breast sizes, but I never realized Sophie was that bad too. I thought she was always on the larger side and the clothes just revealed it more but... sigh

"Breasts now roughly larger than head"
That gave me a sad chuckle when I got to that part.
I've been trying to recreate Fuhrer King Bradley from Full Metal Alchemist in the Soul Calibur character creator.
This is the best that I can do so far, even though it is both still flawed and more of a recreation of the average soldier's coat than Bradley's coat. Still, I don't know if I can do much better to recreate the dress uniform with the current selection of clothing in the character creator. I'm sitting down now to try and tweak the voice settings. Hopefully we get a larger selection of coats in the future. Also more options for facial hair since this mustache isn't quite right, but it's the best that I can get.
SC 6 sounds really good. Might have to pick it up when it goes on sale some time. They've always had pretty good single player content .
I actually really like the Libra of Souls mode. There’s like two novels worth of dumb text storyline and a thousand silly side quests with their own written stuff. Or you can skip all that and just play a couple hundred matches with weird conditions like “Only throws do normal damage” or “slippery floors”.
And the Story Mode for each character has some just incredibly terrible yet entertaining voice acting and writing. Like they have to know what they were doing.
The slippery floors challenges are IMO fun. Although I had one match against a bunch of mummies with the condition that they had hyper-armor active at all times (Ring-outs disabled). That was a pain.

One thing that surprised me--though maybe I'm just missing something obvious, but the original character creation for Libra of Souls mode is separate than the general character creation mode (which is for local or online multiplayer I guess)? I guess I was expected a SCIV style option where you could send the monstrosities you created through their own story mode in order to earn gold, or through the Tower of Suols.
Trying to wait for a sale or complete edition before picking up SC6, but man 2B is hype! I wonder if they just had to flip a coin as to including her or Geraldo as the main guest character at launch. I feel like either one would've generated similar amounts of buzz pre-launch.

Everyone has a price. Throw enough gold around and someone will risk disintegration.
I really like how you can just go into create a character and make your own 2P.
I really am not a fan of Mina's new look, so I popped in and left the character untouched while giving her a costume that was more in line with what she wore in SC2.

Taking bets on those last two DLC spots for season 1:
Notable Soul Calibur exclusions from previous SC games: Hwang/Yeong Sun, Hilde, Setsuna and maaaaybe Dampierre. SC5 does not exist in this timeline, so all the children/protege don't count. Neither does Viola or weird wolf-dude.
Possible guest characters because clearly Bamco is happy to spend cheddar: Heihachi (or other non-Yoshimitsu Tekken character), Cloud, Jon Snow, Mai Shiranui
Artorias definitely seems plausible. A more pie in the sky guest that would blow my mind is Excalibur from Warframe. Just a super mobile asshole, flipping and double jumping and sliding all over the place, throwing javelins, starting combos with counter-hit Radial Blind, Exalted Blade for Soul Charge. It won't happen but I can dream.

I was thinking about it and Lizardman is a given, not sure about Rock because North America doesn’t really gel with what they’re doing, so probably Hilde (tourney winner, big name) or Hwang or Yun-Seong (also big name) next. Li Long got name checked in the Libra mode, so he could show up.
For guest characters they haven’t shown any sense of boundaries in Tekken 7 so who the hell knows what will happen. There’s a Samurai Shodown on the horizon, anybody from there would fit nicely. Or Sora because why not?
