You'd figure siriusxm would stop trying to get me to subscribe by now.
17 dollars a month is a lot of money for lower than fm quality radio. Granted if I did a lot of cross country diving I suspect that I'd feel different given places don't always have cell reception / good rock stations... But still.

They usually throw deals at subscribers. I've been with them for 7 years now and I don't think I've paid more than $7 a month. You can find tons of introductory offers of like 6 months for $15 or whatever. They're the only subscription service I've used that just folds over immediately when you call and ask for a discount.
Shit we are talkin' about Gorillaz in here now. So glad to see them back on their game. Plastic Beach is my go to album for the spring, as it's just filled with so much depth and colour, and that's the vibe I'm getting from these Song Machine drops.
I didn't like Humanz at first, but it's an album that grows on me the more and more I listen to it, but I don't really remember much from The Now Now.... should probably give it another spin.
I love that Iceland song so much that I'm basically sick of it now.
It is now residing in the same place as "Someone That I Used to Know" in that it's a song I respect but don't need to hear ever again. Hope they take the win though.
Fake edit: Nope, just clicked it and it still bangs.

Seriously though, hope you all stay safe through this rocky start to the new decade. Giving you something to listen to while at home, and free for the next day. Just put $0 in Bandcamp at checkout. Cheers.
We want to share our version killing in the name of RATM, we played it years ago in our live shows, and here we did some work to remember it (sorry for the little tempo adjustment before the main riff Winking face) if you know the song sing along!
One of my favorite bands (rap collectives?), Doomtree, is going to a Patreon model to offset the loss of tour income during this whole shit. I think it's a really clever pivot, and the package is kind of amazing? Digital downloads of everything their label's ever put out, which is literally thousands of songs, some cool merch, early access to future releases. It's wild.
Oh, and if you haven't fucked with Doomtree, you should! There's a lot of stuff from a lot of folks, but here's a full-crew jam that I like quite a bit:
This video wrecks me every time - there is just something about the kindness in the grandfather's face that kills me. I love Prine's stuff already, but there are some times when a video adds an enormous layer to a song, and this one definitely does. The entire album is amazing too.
Rateliff's got his own voice though that really lends itself to this particular brand of americana and heartache so I love it a lot, even if it's not that different wrt to the actual musical composition.
And yeah, the grandfather in that video reminds me a whole lot of my own granddad. Just a real weather beaten face, and he was always very quiet and looking back there was this sadness that always seemed to emanate from him. You feel it a lot in that old, southern generation. People who came up dirt poor and worked their lives away and maybe they weren't always good but it's because nobody ever cared to show them how to be anything other than beaten down men who were only expected to provide at all costs.
For some reason there's only one composer working with Vocaloids whose work I consistently like. Or rather, only one where I wouldn't rather hear their songs covered by a human.

I went on a small spree of music buying when Bandcamp did their recent profit share day, and I meant to post a round up here shortly after, but I've discovered that I listen to a lot less music when I don't spend an hour and a half a day commuting
But anyways, here's some stuff I think is good and what they remind me of because I know I'm bad at describing music. Links to their respective Bandcamps provided, because that's what I've got and also they don't all have stuff on YouTube or whatever:
Arthhur - come meet the opposite committee. Chicago garage music, more or less. Reminds me of the Weakerthans mixed with like Sunset Rubdown/Wolf Parade. Favorite track is probably Sheffield & Armitage, but that might just be because I know that crossroad.
insignificant other - i'm so glad i feel this way about you. Queer power pop with a great name, and probably my favorite band of this round up. They remind of me of Letters to Cleo and Retirement Party and maybe a bit of Sharon Van Etten. Favorite track is Heathers.
people you meet outside of bars - too much. Stripped down sad girl music. Mostly just reminds me of... being friends with sad girls who own ukeleles, which I've done a lot in my life, but Jenny Lewis might be a better comparison. Favorite track is Told You So.
Problem Patterns - Good For You, Aren't You Great. Irish riot grrrl punk. I guess I would compare it to Bikini Kill or Be Your Own Pet but honestly I think I'm just trying to come up with other bands that I know live in that riot space because that's so extremely what this is. Favorite track is Gal Pals.
The Y Axes - No Waves. Alt pop, I guess? Alt pop is the fakest genre ever but that's what I think this might be. Reminds me of like, Metric or Paramore or CRJ. Favorite track is The Gap in Between.

It's a weird setup for a label to take, and I already own most of their group stuff (as well as nearly all of P.O.S and Dessa's solo stuff)
But I mean, I like them all a bunch and all that, and it's definitely an intriguing proposition if nothing else
