also, i've been playing the Cold War beta or whatever since i got it for free because i'm an Xfinity customer
and like, i definitely miss a non-battle-royale shooter where i'm in a lobby and the games just keep going until i quit, and i'm unlocking stuff all the time and all the bars are filling up, but like
i don't think i'd feel good giving them any money at this point based on the things i've seen and like US military stuff in general
I am pondering this as I've had the Morrowind theme spinning around in my head all day. I've hardly even played Morrowind, but I probably hum the tune to myself at least once most days.
Morrowind and Skyrim both are easy to hum without warning, but when it comes to favorite title themes, it's gotta be one of these two.

I've been playing Darkwood which is a good top-down survival horror sorta game.
Though the horror element is slightly undermined by the system that when you die you just leave your junk on the ground and start back in your hideout, but the enemies are all still hurt. So like it is very spooky to go anywhere because it does a wonderful job with the atmosphere but if you think about it for a second you're an immortal who can wreck anything through attrition.
But that's kind of a common thing for horror games with fighting and it's a lot less frustrating than the modes where you have a certain number of lives so I'll take it.

It's probably Soul Reaver for me
You know I've never listened to the full version of the intro theme. I hear it's pretty weird. Or was it the album that gets weird?

It has been a while but iirc you do have a limited number of lives.

I didn't know it was from an album actually, I imagine that it could go places though.
I noticed one of the banner ads on Epic atm is for a Dr. Disrespect skin in Rogue Company? I thought he got shuttled into the sun? Why is he back, How is he back?
Was it ever revealed what he got yeeted for in the first place?

uhhh fuck good question. I assume by "theme" we mean like, the actual music playing on the title screen and not necessarily the choon most commonly associated with the game
so by that criteria I guess in no particular order,
Lucifer Within Us was pretty good. Although it is worth the warning that it is short. There's only really the tutorial case and then two more fuller ones. But I liked the story and deduction story telling games are always fun for me.
You question suspects who give you the timeline of events which you can compare against other peoples versions of events to look for contradictions to force them to amend their statements. That's like 90% of it.
Theme edit: Since finishing it the tune that runs through Outer Wilds has really stuck with me. Probably owing more to the games use of the theme, but still. https://youtu.be/K0NWCrn5l5A

Cancel culture is a myth.
I do have to say that it's worth remembering that we don't even know why he disappeared off twitch to begin with. A lot of people ASSUMED that it was for something scandalous but it may simply be something boring, like he was in violation with a contract with twitch or something.

Nah that's one of the difficulty options. Maybe they added the easier one later? But it was Normal - Respawn with the items in your hotbar, Hard - Limited lives, Super Hard - One life.
So far I like it a lot, I like the way they did the trader/reputation as currency thing. And the sound design is awesome, plus the top-down viewcone thing should so be a more standard thing in horror games.
Found myself listening to the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon menu music. Just a really pleasant theme. Takes me right back to middle school. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JRQcFcZ-saE

I've always liked how the subsequent Assassin's Creed games have built upon and modified the themes that Jesper Kyd developed in the first two Assassin's Creeds, and the apex of it, IMO, is Sarah Schachner's work for Assassin's Creed Origins.
Not sure if favorite, but after 5k+ hrs I can hear planet coaster music no matter where I am.
Edit: oo favorite is easily the 16 bit covers in Rock n Roll Racing
The music and the announcer made that game.

Somewhat related to Brolo's question, I made a playlist a while back of my favorite video game intros. By intro I mean, not "the first cutscene" or whatever, but the like, opening video + music + title screen type thing. Like a TV show intro. I always appreciate when games have these, because it helps get me in the right mood.
The playlist, in case people are curious:
Dawn of War
Thief 1
Red Alert 2
BATTLETECH
Battlefield 2142
Rise of Nations
Alpha Centauri
Mega Man 2
Tales of Vesperia
Persona 4
Vice City
Final Fantasy IV DS
Chrono Trigger (SNES)
X-COM (original)
Shogo: Mobile Armor Division
No One Lives Forever
System Shock
Conan Exiles
Space Marine
Final Fantasy XII
Rome: Total War

I can't count the amount of times I would quit to the main menu after playing for a while just to hear the theme and start playing all over again.
