For what it's worth in regard to shanties, because it's a common misconception, they're very much a 19th century creation. Sailors on ships would certainly sing various songs prior to that, but the shanty as a genre, with its various aspects, does not seem to exist in the 18th century. I am willing to give Shammy the other streamer oh so slight, the most minute of leeways, as it is clear that he is drunk off his ass; but mandalore is also drinking occasionally and completely avoids using slurs like that
which in a way tells me he's stuck in that place where you become friends with someone as a teen or college freshman and you get to a point where that friend's vulgarities become inappropriate but you feel awkward commenting on it
I will mention that Mandalore's older videos are very much not free of slurs like that. It kind of feels like a phase gaming YouTubers need to grow out of (or double down).

My general attitude towards stuff like that is that, if the person is young, unless they're shitty in other ways also, I'll give them a pass for it and hope they grow out of it. I had bad opinions and attitudes when I was younger, I was just lucky that my own output of dumb wasn't super public nor archived for all times to be used as ammunition against me two decades on and that's not something content creators these days get.

oh Sseth is a certified scumbag, but it's kind of like how Markeplier cant escape from Pewdiepie's orbit; no matter how much of a genuinely nice person you might be, the parasocial hellscape that is streaming for your livelihood forces you into contact with some assholes you'd rather avoid
