So, I'm looking to buy something for my wife for her birthday. She's indicated an interest in learning to play the uke, so that seems like kind of a no-brainer.
She's already a pretty accomplished musician - French Horn is her primary instrument, but she was an instrumental music teacher in the past and knows how to play most brass and woodwinds, as well as a smattering of orchestra string instruments. She's only got limited experience in guitar.
She's also a bit on the short side with smaller hands (she swears she's 5' tall, but she might be stretching for that).
With that in mind, can anyone recommend me a good learning ukelele and / or learning program?
Thanks in advance!

For brand, it really depends on what you want to spend. If you want a more traditional one at a beginner price I really like my Cordoba concert size I got for $125ish but I know there are plenty of good stuff if you go up higher (I'm a bit cheap). If you don't care about it being a traditional wooden instrument, I absolutely LOVE my Enya carbon fiber (mine's the Robin's egg blue one). It's super pretty, had a nice sound and the sound hole facing the person playing gives great feedback on how you sound.. I linked the non-electric one below but there is one with a pickup. Get a little clip on tuner too, I find the phone apps really aren't as good.

Also just because they are amazing:

I'll second Cordoba. Their concert size ukulele seems to be the most recommended entry point and I paid about the same as Lohan IIRC.
I haven't done it myself, so no big suggestions. Though Stewmac has been variably recommended to me the few times I've asked about instrument making, and they have kits:
