Video game developer Electronic Arts is bringing back its beloved college football game with a catch: it won't include the likeness of any real-life college players.
The new game, EA Sports College Football, will be the company's first college football title since it discontinued the NCAA Football franchise in 2013. That year, college players filed a class-action lawsuit against EA for using their likeness without compensation.
The company is working with college trademarking company CLC to include over 100 universities, allowing the game to use uniforms, mascots, stadiums and fight songs.
"We've heard from the millions of passionate fans requesting the return of college football video games," Cam Weber, the company's executive vice president, said in a statement Tuesday. "We love the energy, tradition and pageantry of college football and I am beyond thrilled to say we are back in development."
Guys, the last time you tried this it came with an eight figure price tag. The fans are going to expect rosters to match the real thing, and the player stats are just as much a part of NIL as their faces are.
I have to say that the way I play NCAA games, the authenticity of the rosters doesn't mean anything to me. Inputting correct names and numbers is a hassle. I just pick the name generator and move on.
Considering many of the 'fixes' they had been implementing I would rather they make the game I want to play. I have doubts.
If this comes to fruition, I'll wait until it comes out and see how it looks.
The sense I get is that the NCAA is going to roll back their NIL regs, either in response to legislation, or because SCOTUS drops the hammer on them.
Kind of have more faith in Congress here. Conservative majority is going to be really conflicted here. They can either let their free market fundamentalism win or their racism win but not both for once.
Self-righteousness is incompatible with coalition building.
So, who here is surprised that coach and turf aficionado Les Miles was an abusive creep?
At the height of his fame as Louisiana State University’s head football coach, Les Miles was accused of texting female students, taking them to his condo alone, making them feel uncomfortable and, on at least one occasion, kissing a student and suggesting they go to a hotel after telling her he could help her career, according to an internal investigative report released by LSU on Thursday.
The investigation, done by law firm Taylor Porter on behalf of LSU in 2013, did not find that Miles had sexual relationships with any of the women. But it found his behavior inappropriate. Miles strongly denied kissing the girl, according to the report. He said that he did nothing wrong and was simply mentoring young women at the university.
Miles also was accused by athletic department staff of saying that the female student workers who helped the football team lure top recruits needed to be attractive, blonde and fit, according to the investigative report. Existing student employees who did not meet this criteria should be given fewer hours or terminated, the report details.
Donars to the University of Texas have begun to put their foot down and demand that players remain on-field post-game to sing the school's fight song, The Eyes of Texas.
A song with a history connected to minstral shows.
Last year, many UT athletes would leave early rather than participate.

Yeah, fuck him. The kitten’s still in intensive care at the vet and they’re holding fundraisers to cover the massive vet bills the kitten’s going to have just to try to give it a decent quality of life. I’m not going to repeat what he allegedly did, but as a cat lover it makes my blood fucking boil. I don’t care if he’s good at football, this silly goose belongs in fucking jail for a few years.

Big10 also announces their virus policy. Teams that cannot play conference games forfeit. If both cannot play, then it's a no contest.
Get the shot, kids.
I think big football programs are like 95%+ vaccinated because most of those coaches, even if giant dipshits, have forced their players to get the shot
Like I think OSU is fully vaccinated (at least everyone that CAN get it has it)

Man our last several coaches have been a mix of characters
-Mike Price, who jumped ship to Alabama and then got fired for using his school credit card at a strip club before ever coaching a game (Part of me believes he was set up by boosters who didn’t want a Pac10 guy coaching Bama)
-Bill Doba, who had a couple good years with the last of Price’s recruits but as soon as his own guys came in the team started sucking bad
-Paul Wolff, who found out real quick that big boy football is a whole different animal than the Big Sky Conference
-Mike Leach, who gave rambling incoherent interviews that made the press love him and got fans excited for a few years but couldn’t make adjustments to his tired-ass one-note offense
-Nick Rolovich, who is known for wearing a stupid hat and not being vaccinated and has not yet coached a game
“I was quick when I came in here, I’m twice as quick now”
-Indiana Solo, runner of blades
Dave Wennstadt believes that, after discussions at some FOX Sports/broadcaster...thing...that the following teams are likely to jump to these conferences:
ACC - West Virginia
Big10 - Iowa State, Kansas
Pac-12 - Kansas State, Oklahoma State
No word at this time on where Baylor, TCU, or Texas Tech may end up.
Could be just 'bar talk', but they all have to go somewhere because there are no realistic options out there that could join the Big12 and save it. As far as footbaw goes, without OU and UT, Big12 simply doesn't rate 'Power 5' status.

Their “free market” afterall is only about letting those with means exploit those without, free of impediment
Edit: The Kansas AD's response is...something:

But I'm sure the university as a whole does not follow strict practice guidelines, so how can we unfairly punish them?
The analyst actually coaching thing though...well...I have a feeling that's awfully common among the big money programs

And if the ncaa wants to dig into it I think they'll find a lot of problems in a lot of places.
Honestly seems like a solid investigation into ways to help Nebraska fire Frost without having to pay him.

So, does that make the SEC the Empire?
"Your passing game is your weakness."
"Your faith in your defense is yours."
This is like some really hokey pro wrestling shit
I mean, at least Harbaugh has had a minimum of 1 (one) winning season with his Alma Mater
Pat Fitzgerald will coach Northwestern until current big-time college football dies….
…. In like 2 years
The question is whether the SEC is early, exciting nWo, or the later stuff that just wouldn't go away.
The alliance details to be announced today.
Get the shot, kids.
If that's the case, then Notre Dame is Mandalore in the Council of Neutral Systems (in football, at least).
