Tell that to Bob Dole, who ran in '96, around McCain's age, and is still kicking today.
Also, Fuzzball has a point.

McCain was tortured.
Tortured man.
You don't get much more hardcore than that.
EDIT: Also, where are you guys finding that obama is leading clinton? cnn still reports the opposite.

If McCain is nominated I will vote for the Libertarian candidate. A contest between McCain and Hillary or McCain and Obama will be the time to laugh away your vote. With those candidates the American people will be the loser. It is really a sad day when Republican voters back a man like McCain. Very, very sad.

I thought it was you saying that.
I was unsure how to proceed because of what I just said two minutes ago.
Im not sure what this means but I will be sure to let Jim, in Fairfax, Virginia know

So, before leading my troops into battle, we would get drunk and drugged up, sacrifice a local teenager, drink their blood, then strip down to our shoes and go into battle wearing colourful wigs and carrying dainty purses we'd looted from civilians. We'd slaughter anyone we saw, chop their heads off and use them as soccer balls. We were nude, fearless, drunk and homicidal. We killed hundreds of people — so many I lost count.
i'm not comprehending the reason for calling a vote that does not count
The Republican side is counting the mail in primaries I think.
Also, there are more issues than party nomination on the ballot.
The Republican delegate distribution for Washington is determined half by the caucus, half by the primary. The Democratic delegate distribution is determined purely by the caucus. The primary is just a beauty contest.
And I'm not aware of any issues other than the primary on the ballot. At least, there weren't any in my voter information packet.
MSNBC shows Obama with a lead of 4, CNN shows it in Clinton's favor and Politico even more so.
The math is apparently awfully screwy and they all have their own way of counting things up.
The point is, neither of them won Super Tuesday, which is the same as saying they both did. The question will become whether or not Obama can pull out the Mid-Atlantic group voting next Tuesday, and if boosted by the caucuses coming up, he can establish a lead.
If so, then Ohio, Pennsylvania and Texas might be more friendly territory.
You washington fucks better not ruin the momentum we have alright
I don't have any evidence to back this up, but I get the feeling that most of us here are probably leaning toward Obamarama.
Well Washington dems are all either rural moderates (which go for Obama almost always) or Seattle, which is pretty similar to places like San Francisco in terms of demographics and political leanings. We do very well among the young, wealthy, and far-left. Seattle should be ok.
A candidate may "suspend" his or her campaign rather than dropping out, and technically remain a candidate. In this case, he or she is entitled to keep any statewide pledged delegates as well as their district-level delegates.
Okay. So, I take it that he's not going to campaign, but he'll stay on the ballot and keep the delegates?

Mike Gravel would do this if he had any delegates to hold on to.
Laura Inghram just talked about how the party needs a true conservative as the only way to win the election - fiscal conservative, social conservative, and tough on national security, and that only Romney is that guy.
Then she introduced him so he could come out and quit.

Yeah, I was giggling all through that.

This guy isn't inspirational at all. He's just talking about what's wrong with everything. Government is wrong, business is wrong, unions are wrong, foreign countries are wrong. Everything is terrible, and therefore we must be conservative.

I gotsta figure out where it's at.
Now I've come to realize what an utter shithole that continent is.
It's a little misleading, Hillary donated $5 million to her own campaign last month, not this month.
Still, I'm really happy that the Clintons are struggling to keep up with Barack in the money department.
Surely lobbyists have deeper pockets than this.
And I'm not aware of any issues other than the primary on the ballot. At least, there weren't any in my voter information packet.
Obama has been getting lots of small-number donations, which means he can go back and ask those people for more.
Also MSNC just flat out shows it as 838-834 but then again they are pretty blatantly pro-Barack.

That's really odd, considering this speech:
http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/politics/2008/02/05/sot.romney.keep.on.battling.cnn
From two days ago.
This guy at the CPAC just called Ayn Rand the greatest freedom fighter of the last century.
Is that what this is?

What a shallow person to get before Romney has to try to be mature and congratulatory.
What's that?
I don't care how much my mom asked, I wouldn't support that.
Then she introduced him so he could come out and quit.
I would actually like to read about what is was like for Laura Ingram to come to terms with her brother being gay.
Then he paused.
And waited.
Then the audience got it and reacted.
Dumbass.
