I am hesitant about armor dyes. As long as they prevent certain color combinations so it does not end like up in Everquest where you had rainbow tanks and giant pink Ogres.
If I recall the newsletter podcast, they will be restricting some color combinations for the armor dyes. Although, it looked very customizable, they said they'd remove some of the sillier combinations of color.

That's exactly what they've stated in the past, yeah.

Also, if you're opposed to that you suck.
That's one of the features I've missed a lot since DAoC. I'll be glad to have it back at all.
I was never into the crazy color combinations, but we had a rainbow troll zerker on my server named Happy that always made me grin.

I'm going to wear neon colors like all those psycho Tzeentchis wear.
Three new screenshots on Warhammer Vault show that they're definitely not getting rid of the "clown suit" method completely. They don't look bad but you can see they're mix and match.
Do you know if you can dye armor?
I don't know. I kind of hope not. I think the art resources are better spent on making new models and textures than creating dye-able stuff.
I don't think armor dyes are really a huge resource hog.

I'm talking more about development time than computer resources.

I don't think it's terribly resource intensive, from a time or manpower point of view. All they need to do is set up the ability to tint a piece of armor, and then they can apply that to every piece of armor in the game.
The armor has the texture and a default color, the "dye" is just the tint on the armor. I'm not an art expert by any stretch, but I don't see it being all that hard to implement.
What would actually take time is to go through and disallow colors on a Race by Race or Class by Class basis.
Just let everyone have access to all the colors. Even with a limited palette to chose from, there will be people who choose to make the most garish avatars they can.
Dyeing is one of the things people use to personalize their character. Even if everyone is wearing the same armor, they would all be dyed differently.
Armor Dyes are so cool. I think a unified guild color scheme would be awesome. Purple is okay, but I think it'd need to be very deep purple or royal purple or some such. I personally prefer silver to gold, but whatever.
I don't think I've seen Armor Dyes in a game since DAOC, which seems weird. I very fondly remember getting a nice set of armor from the Pygmies in Albion that was seafoam green and then immediately making it a striking crimson. Good stuff.

Guild Wars has them. Of course, Guild Wars blows, so it doesn't really help.
Little late to the party, but i'm pretty excited for this game. Did PA as a guild decide to be Destruction? I've never really played Warhammer before, but Mythic has my soul for making DAoC the best MMO i've ever played so I'm really excited to play WAR.
Ach, I really want more information on the KotBS. Tactical characters interest me, mostly because I love strategy games and tactical warfare in general.
And yet the gameplay of twisting is an ugly, alien thing to me. I've got very little experience using it, but it seems to be one of those "you love it or you hate it" things.

Beta People need to yell at them and tell them to make better animations.

Destruction is the focus but we will have an Order Guild on a different server as well. The Six Codpieces, from what I've heard.
I don't like the Order races, though Dwarfs are okay, but they sound like they have some really cool classes.
I vote for Deep Purple + Silver myself, but who knows if it is even possible.

That made me laugh.

They don't sign them in the first place, because they spilled beer on their computer then threw it out a window after shoving a fish in the DVD drive.

one of the first DE classes revealed, but still nothing detailed about them.

You can't even fathom how true this is, and I can't increase your fathoming without breaking ye olde NDA.
Had to.
