Problems uploading avatars

[STG]Bean[STG]Bean Registered User regular
I posted in another thread looking for help, as a test I was trying to upload an avatar hosted at imagez.com, the url is: http://www.imagezs.com/member/pic.php?u=1787XoZVN&i=5399

Unfortunately, when I try and update my profile with the avatar, it puts a black bar across the top of the web page and doesn't seem to do anything to my profile and just reloads the rest of the page but without any information in the avatar line.

I believe avatars must end with an image associated file extension like jpg, png or gif.

There is a security issue with the forum patch alpha inputed that wasn't there before...

Yeah, I'm talking out my ass. I already made this thread and that's the response that I got from lpha when I did. His abscence has kept him from fixing the issue, however.

But I still want my damn PHP avvy back.

Deni is right, it is a sort of cop out security mechanism in use by the phpBB group. I could remove that restriction, but it actually doubles as a useful bug.

Rename your script to have a .gif, .jpg, or a .png extension. Then create a .htaccess file that tells PHP to parse .gif(|.jpg|.png) files.

    That should work. :)

Thanks guys, I was wondering how dumb I was being. Fortunately I can just host the images myself.

I wouldn't mind some of that hot php action myself, but my host is rejected. If someone could host the php part and link back to my avatars I would be most grateful
