East Coast By Air Meet-up @ NYC/JFK

I want to start this now.

If you are in and around NYC give a shout here. I know you want to go and or bring more friends with you. You know you have friends that would enjoy this if they could afford it or whatever.

I went last year it was awesome. It is by no means impossible.

My idea is to start getting to know eachother now so that you can tell those people you want to bring "Hey me and this dude and this dude and this dude and this chick and that chick " and they will feel more likely to be able to come...

It's an idea and I want to get it started now. I'm not into going by land across country because I have a job and hopefully will have one still around the time of pax and I cant spare the extra 3 days there and 3 days back. So if you want to see if we can get something to coagulate now that's what this thread is for.

My name is Arnaldo. And I am a Collections Agent. I brought a friend with me last year and it was his first game convention, his first trip to seatle and his first trip with out the planning of his parents. I'm 24. He is 18 now. My dad might want to come. Parents are welcome and if you think your parents wouldn't let you go alone we'll see what we can do to work that out.

I just DONT want ANYONE thinking that this is impossible. THIS IS SO POSSIBLE!!!

Let's Do This!

Shit, I'd go. Nothing EVER happens on the east coast, let alone NYC. "Capitol of the world" my ass.

But there's the whole money issue. I'm going to Europe for around 2 months before april, which requires lots of money. And on top of that my brother might be getting married around the time of the expo.

And to make me feel even crappier they're having a BF1942:DC contest  (though wouldn't it be better to have BF2?)

FOR ONCE I wish something video game related would happen in NYC.
And don't anyone give me that "digital life expo" bullshit...

It only would cost you like $330 to go and see the expo if you could get that set aside you could do it.

NYC is nowhere near my flight path.

A friend and I (23 and 21) are seriously considering going. We're in NJ, thats close enough to NYC, but I'm not exactly sure what you're trying to accomplish here. Are you just trying to get everyone in the area to go as one big group, or what?

Basically, yes. The more the merrier. Also , why not? I mean I just want to bring with me as many people as I can, ideally I would like to show up at least 15 deep.

I intend to go, I may even try to get a CS team together to lose badly in the tournament. Since the fiance insisted that we sell our cars when we move to NYC (as much as it pains me to admit it, she seems to have had the right idea) I'll probably be flying. Flight seems to be the cheapest mode of travel to anywhere out of NYC these days anyway. I'm trying to convince the fiance to go, but its quite unlikely that I will be succesful.

In regards to the poll, I suppose I need some people to make hotel accomodations with so its not too hard on my always bolemic checking account.

I'd love to go to PAX this year. And if I'm still livining in the area I'd meet up with you at JFK for sure.

Especially if you say it's only $330, that I can start saving for now.

However I'm graduating from college in May so my particapation will depend solely on where I end up getting a job.

*sniff* I'm so glad he finally admits it... and in writing, no less! How do I save this post for posterity?

But, seriously, I was wondering how many of you will be attempting to drag non-gaming (or not-so-serious gaming) SOs to this thing. Perhaps we could band together and find something interesting to do while the gamers have their fun...

How are people flying? I found that Song flies out of JFK for $266 (including taxes, etc.), and Jet Blue is $286.

I wonder if we could get a group discount?

I have an SO but I usually call her my GF. You know I know a super hero goes by the name of GL. I once use to watch a superhero duck goes by the name of DW. Ducks eat for free at subway.

Yes she is not that intersted in videogames. If she were to come along I don't know if you would get along but I will tell her that there might be others there like her, however why come at all. I am actually planning on trying to meet another SO maybe not to be my GF but to just come a long with me to PAX.

As far as group rates go sounds like a good idea I am trying to purchas ethem as in advance as I possibly can but I have to wait for my CC to come in from the Krebit Karb Kompamy. If you can wait till next week to book then cool. I really want to meet up with as many people as I can here in NYC that way when the whole thing ends it lasts longer. I didn't perticularly like the plane trip home last year. I hate plane trips home.

Remember this: Plane ticket prices go up dramatically in the four or so months before fly date. If you wait to 'save up' and buy closer to August, you'll find yourself $400 short, at least. Buy now, and save your dough for rounds of Bawls & Vodka. :winky:
