Anyone in AK going to PAX?

I was wondering if anyone from Alaska is going to Pax this year? I'm going by myself and looking for some company for the trip. Let my know, thanks!

By the way, I am a girl so if a group of folk would like to let me join, it would be nice to have another girl to talk to!

Well, you could probably join up with the Western Canada Supertrip, but that's not 'til Vancouver. Given that Alaska Airlines' continental hub is in Seattle, you'd be best off flying in with a group.

Wow, I was totally just thinking the exact same thing.

    Well, except the flying thing.

Well, I do suppose an Alaskan Supertrip is possible. The main issue is distance. Anchorage is over 2200 miles from Seattle (compare the CCST's cross-country trip at just over 2800), but there's nothing on that highway except Canadians and bears.

Heck man... even Montana has bears... Ones that sit in-between the lanes of the highway in the middle of the night.

Yes, but Montana is only 560 miles across at its widest point. The Alaska Highway, at 2200 miles, offers a roughly fourfold increase in the chance of being eaten by a bear on the way to PAX.

All the more reason for a Supertrip coming down from AK. Safety in numbers. A bear is less likely to attack your car if there's like 5 of them. And, really, what could the "Bear attacks at gas stations" number really be at along that stretch, anyhow?

Just more fleshy fodder for its slavering, razor-toothed maw. Also, as regards numbers, you'd be amazed. Shocked and amazed.

Well, I was thinking of flying or taking a ferry, so my chances of being mauled by a bear are pretty low. Unless a ferry comes across some pirate bears, then I'm screwed.

Well, I was planning on going via road or air, but it looks like I'll be working this summer as well as attending summer classes.
