This makes me a bad person, I know, but I've never liked Middle-earth much. LotRO was a good game, but between the lack of intergrated PvP and setting, I couldn't get that into it.
Out of curiosity, how hard is it to get gear that looks like the one on the character in the first shot?
I mean I'd really like to enjoy LOTRO but dang if I don't want to grind through another MMO just to be like "thats my character, and he looks bad-ass"
LoTRO (Pre-moria. The graphics and lighting changed a little after it came out):
Something I have in common with my character: He blinks every time a picture is taken. Also, I need to find some better gloves and boots that go with that outfit.
Ragnarok Online:
This game was pretty awful, but it was the best thing ever back in high school. Especially when I had 5 or 6 friends in the game who played together regularly.
is there a equipment tab just for appearance wear? like there is in EQ2?
Yep, you get it at level 20.
the shoulders are some cloth cloak, the coat thingie is a cosmetic thing with no stats, and the rest is probably random stuff. You don't need to keep the items -- you can drag them to the proper cosmetic slot and then get rid of them.
If not for the cosmetic tab, I would like like this:
Stylish. (Edit: A nice thing about Moria is that once you reach Level 20 on one character, all of your characters have access to the Cosmetic Tabs no matter what level they are. Now you no longer have to look like Aquaman in blue Moon Boots at Level 7.)
wait, you can cosmetic weapons? (your weapons look different in those shots, just curious)
That first screenshot was taken a week or two ago. I bought a new weapon since then. I'm also not too fond of my new halberd, so I didn't bother to take a new picture with it.
Edit: I still have the halberd that I was wearing in the first picture. It has a lot of sentimental value, and I'm hoping that a future expansion of the game will have a feature that lets you display weapons in your house. I doubt it will happen... but if it does, I would hate myself if I no longer had the Polished Gondorian Halberd.
Here's my rank 36 Chosen. The rest are the T4 RvR set. I have 4 pieces of the required 5 but cannot wear them all yet. Need to be higher ranked for some pieces which is a bit of a shame....

I need to get to 40 so that I can have 5 trophies. I have 3 Mutation trophies and that camelot one. I am putting two of those eyes on each side of my shoulders.
So I will have 2 eyes looking at you in front, and 2 in back.
Actually I recall Radd from the forums here making a Metroid Space Pirates avatar that looked great. It was made up of sculpties but used in such a way that did not look like someone wearing gloves and a hat.
Blizzard are masters of texturing. The shoulders look like they have way more polygons than they actually do and it even looks bump mapped, which the game definetly is not. It's very impressive.

Heard the proposition that RIAA and MPAA should join forces and form "Music And Film Industry Association"?
Now if only they could make the texture resolution on the rest of the body match that.
Definately hope they plan on doing a graphic overhaul on the characters...it's starting to show it's age now. Just look at the difference between the blood elves and draenei compared to the rest of the races. Even that was two years post release and the difference is amazing.
One of the cooler things in Northrend, amazing enough is that I actually had a use for this Harpoon launcher again after the quest. An elite mob in Howling Fjord was bugged and it was following me across the map but I managed to escape it with the harpoon gun.

Cause good god it looks gorgeous.
Like so?
That's also part of why I didn't *do* anything in LotR other than wander around and look at things.

Here's a cosmetic outfit my guardian had:

That helm is ugly.
EDIT: God damn my dyslexia. Those red peices of armor are the T4 RvR set, I meant to type.
Fuck you buddy, slow levelers are people too. I can still strain noodles in my helm. Helm aside, Goatrider still has way better hair than Kyder:
Also, what's that Eye of Chaos trophy you have?
Also that is the Mutation, as it is called.

I see ALL.
You need to get them from bestial tokens btw.
Found myself a nice shirt and a smug grin.
It's really funny how pretty the game can be.
damnit!
You'd be surprised at what some people have been able to do with just sculpties.
