have any of you heard of sleepy time gorilla museum
no?
how about Horse the Band
they have a neat song called Sex Raptor
SGM is awwwwesome.
"Of Natural History" is such a killer album. What a weird/brilliant album concept - an imaginary debate between the Unabomber and the Futurist movement.
I only have The Flying Club Cup. Is Gulag Orkestar worth getting?
@Bubbles - Dammit, every time they play here the show is 21 and older. Was their set mainly stuff from Only By The Night?
it's not nearly as polished, and flying cup club is definitely the better album
but there are a few really great songs that make it worthwhile
I'd advise checking it out
Yeah it's definitely not as polished, but it is also quite different. From what I can gather, for example, there doesn't appear to be any guitar or stringed instrument of any sort in the album, whereas Flying Cup has a few pieces of guitar/uke here and there.
few years back at a gogol bordello concert, some tool who was apparantly connected to the people who own the venue came up on stage just as they ended their first song. He tried to get the mic away from Hutz, who replied "the immigrants are singing now, go away," and then pushed him off stage.
My friends had always tried to get me to listen to them, and I kept saying I would but never found the time. Now they're my roommates and they held me down until I listened to them, and my god it is so good
I do know that the chick, Carla Kihlstedt, is a wicked talented violinist. Both of her side projects, Tin Hat Trio and Two Foot Yard, churn out consistently quality material

I don't really know much about them other than the fact that Brody Dalle is in it, and that music video I posted
I'm looking to get into them now, though
and the elephant gun ep may be better than both of them
but now I like them
this is a good thing
they have an ep at www.spinnerettemusic.com
that's all the music they've released so far, and you can listen to 'mashup' on their myspace i guess
this is interesting
i will listen to this
http://tinyurl.com/6f9klo
also this video is great
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kmrz0n6Ed5k
it's a good mix of the balkan stuff on gulag and the european pop feel of flying club cup
elephant gun is the best song he's written
you are a good man
I used to love them when I was 14/15 and still listen to them time to time
Oh, they like, just got together
that's cool
I have an opinion on them
they have always been great

Bearstranaut why won't you talk about Sleepytime Gorilla Museum with me
Fuck, listen to some good hardcore. This is the best shit to just WILD THE FUCK OUT to.
like this
The 90's was a good time for music in many respects
I didn't know you wanted to!
Man did you see the video for Hymn to the Morning Star?
I didn't know something so corny could be so horrifying.
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
What gets me about that song is how low those notes he hits are
It's like "Holy shit, did they just sample a tug boat? Oh, no, that was a dude"
say his naaaaaaaaaaaaame
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
guys got the handsomest mandibles dude
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Nowhere near as good, but they occasionally have some gems.
The song "Lucy Belle," in particular, is a jam
isn't one of the members of STGM a laveyan satanist or something?
those are the best kind of satanists
