Broadband in Manhattan: Cable or DSL?

I’m going to be moving to Manhattan and need to make plans for broadband. Who provides better service: cable or DSL? (FIOS is not available in the building)

    according to my experiences, cable is far better... and yeah, FiOS isn't coming for a while
