I wish they made an online version of the GoT board game. It's fucking awesome but it's really hard to find 4 people to play with consistently.

"I have a dragon and so do my crazy ass siblings, give me your shit or die" and then you either get their stuff or burn them and get their stuff doesn't seem like much of an RTS

    Especially considering it'll be turn-based.

I found the screen shots so uninteresting I didn't even read the article, so I made an assumption, whoops!

I think the Song of Ice and Fire mod for Mount and Blade is probably the right way to go in terms of gameplay. It was just a mod, so it didn't do much besides change the map and factions to have a SoIaF theme but the army combat was great

Probably not the best vehicle for following the books but it was a lot of fun if you let yourself get immersed in the idea of it (and then beat up the lannisters forever)

There are lots of different ways you could do a SoIaF game. Personally I'd make a 2D fighter called Tournament at Harrenhal Super Turbo Championship Arcade Edition II.

In unrelated news, I found out my only buddy, my true friend, who already has HBO and is a Song of Ice and Fire fan will DVR the series for me.
I do not have to buy HBO for one hour a week.

    Yay!

Also Littlefinger is such a dude. I don't know how he went from shifty little shit in the first book to awesome manipulative badass in the fourth one, but I like it!

If you ever go back and re-read the earlier books, you'll find that he was always a manipulative badass, you just didn't know enough to notice what he was doing.

Littlefinger is all sorts of boss.
Thusfar, he, Tywin Lannister, and in smaller amounts Melisandre and Tyrion, are (or were in big boss Lannister's case) the only ones truly playing the game of thrones. The rest of the lot are playing wargames or are being used as pawns in the game. But he is the craftiest and smartest of the lot. All the kings and wannabe kings are pawns by default any way, and most of the ones controlling the kings are pawns in turn for the true players of the game.

Sansa all the way, whiny little girl to cut-throat schemer and it only took...4+ books and the death of almost everyone she loves

Doran Martell too of course, though it isn't perfectly clear if he's with Varys/Illyrio or if they are all just shooting for the same goal - the return of the Targaryens.

Jon? I dunno, he was raised up, but he hasn't done anything more than take on the duties of commander of the Watch. As far as scheming goes he's about on par with Davos, which isn't very much.
