Rylai's is a good choice since it gives him HP, AP, and the slow, so chasing nerds down is a cinch

Rod of Ages is also not a bad choice if you want HP, MP, and AP

Tear of the Goddess is nice as well, turn it into Archangel's Staff later on for AP

Banshee's Veil is another good HP item for him

Bottom line is do not initiate with Riftwalk, you will get stunned/rooted/whatevered and destroyed in short order, wait until someone on the team has initiated then do your thing

Yeah I went mostly with recommended items, I think. Also, I mostly ran into trouble when I'd be in the lane alone and I'd just be auto-attacking some creeps for creep kills, while saving my mana. Some dude would show up, I think it was mostly a Malph, I'd back up, shoot him once maybe get the cone attack on, I think it's his E. Then I'd just die.

kassadin can be AD as a comedy build or if the team feeds the fuck out of you, but he is way more powerful as an AP champ that warps in and blasts a whole team for 800 dmg and PEACES OUT

I think assassin characters like Kassadin are probably the worst choice to try and learn the game with, because you need to constantly be watching for so many signs of imminent danger

he has a built in escape mechanism and cap is still probably on newbie island

Assassin types are very unforgiving in that if you don't know when to go in during a teamfight you will get smashed by 5 angry players or you will end up not doing anything while the rest of your team gets clobbered

Also never sit around and auto attack minions. You will miss more last hits then you will get and you'll push the tower for no good reason. Just let the minions fight and time it so you get the last whack for the gold. This takes some time to learn and seems counter intuitive because pushing feels like winning.

What you actually want to do is harass the enemy laner until they have to say away from you, then you can get them out of XP range and make sure they don't get last hits. As long as you have more last hits you're winning, but if you're completely denying him you're really winning.

Watch some Treeskimo streams for explanations on when you should or shouldn't push. He's really good at laning and always points out when and why he or someone else made a mistake. I don't have the link, but someone else probably does.

I played Morde the other night a couple times and I felt like I was amazing at clearing groups of creeps, but I wasn't very successful against other champs.

also, morde doesn't really do good damage to champs, he just also never fucking dies

Maybe my problem is that all these champs are well balanced and what I want is someone who never dies and also murders everyone always. Like, take morde and make all his attacks, like Cho's Feast, Alistar's head butt, Malphite's nstoppable force and he can keep his own ulti. I would like that.

Yeah if you're soloing vs 2 as Morde it's not a huge deal if you don't fend them off as long as you get more last hits you'll level faster and have way more cash than either of them.

You just have to try to keep the minions off the tower if at all possible because it eats your precious gooooold.
