Use of reactions is indeed fairly rare. Like less than once-per-game rare.

Though that's just the group I play with of course.

Assuming no reactions I research Phase Shield for 5 science, at that point everyone gets one last chance to react if not I

    No reaction from me!

    LET THE GAMES BEGIN.

edit: so the deal with monoliths in the rules is "own hex"; I assume you own a hex if it has your influence disk, even if someone's big fat dreadnought is sitting there too?

    No reaction from me either!

Will be good to finally see this all go done. Same routine as before when it comes round to me, if you would please Icerimp. Except this time, roll well!

    So, in order:
    311 (Yellow vs Blue)
    302 (Red vs Green)
    230 (Black vs White)
    224 (Yellow vs Blue)
    221 (Red vs Green)
    205 (Red vs Green)
    103 (Black vs White)

    Correct?

    That's correct, Lyko.

To own a hex, you need to have an influence disk there, yep.

And yeah, that looks right, Endaro.

Well, if I don't react I think I have no chance here. So let's see what happens
React! Build an interceptor in 302, giving myself an ever-so-slight chance to save those 5 VP

It looks like the battle order in 311 goes:

    Cruiser: 2 HP, 2d6 hitting on 4
Interceptor: 3 HP, 1d6 hitting on 6 dealing 2 damage
    Dreadnought;6 HP, 2d6 hitting on 4

    That seem right?

Actually my cruiser has 2 HP and can get oneshotted by the interceptor I think: edited the post.

Will the Interceptor pilot be a hero? YES! Must have gotten all the whiffing out of his system against the Ancient. :P Take out that Cruiser.

    Farewell, my lovely cruiser. :(

Dreadnought takes revenge with 1 hit

Dreadnought finishes the hero interceptor off.

Roll for PLANETARY BOMBARDMENT: only 1 cube is destroyed (the one on the orbital).

Want to roll our other fight while we're still on?

Huzzah, the Monolith remains ours! Cube goes to the Science graveyard.

Sure, assuming no one cares we're going out of order (doubt it).

    Edit: Apparently Endaro cares. :P

I'm assuming no one cares because I don't think it could possibly affect any decision, ever.

    Ints whiff
    Cruiser gets one hit

WHAT? Heroes EVERYWHERE! The pilot training officer must have given all of his attention to his few recruits. TWO HITS! destroy another Cruiser and puts a hurting on a Terran Interceptor.

(Sorry about the crazy luck, Lyko. So much for the odds!)

Maybe I should switch to orokos...

Yeah, I don't think I have any chance of winning without taking that monolith, but hopefully I can at least win the fight.

I think I did a terrible job with ship design and efficient upgrades.

ONE MORE HIT destroys... the Interceptor's hull plating.
