Poor Chuz. No I don't think he gets anything if he gets killed, not even RC.

Man am I ever strapped for cash suddenly. I get about 200000 per run and when I get back to Gran Soren it's all gone in seconds to new equipment and upgrades.

Also, I absolutely loathe the Duke's wife and if they force me into some lame romance with her I will squat over my Xbox and shit directly on top of it.

Damn, sorry about that. He had been with me for a while, all through the last dungeon, plus all the post-game stuff I had done to that point. :( About to finish up the post-game stuff to do an NG+ so I'll release and rehire him just to make sure he gets stuff from it.

As for affinity, I think your romance is whoever you reach max with last, so if you don't want her just hit up someone else before you finish. I ended up with Julien which is okay I guess.

I haven't been following affinity at all. How do you know when it's maxed? What increaces affinity anyway? Just gifts and escort quests?

When it's maxed and you talk to them you'll hear a chime and a pink aura will be around their heads. And yeah as far as I know it's gifts and quests that raise it. I think visiting and buying from stores a lot raises your affinity with shopkeepers, too.

Hey, so, the dragon that's chilling in the forest by Shadow Fort. That's not the dragon is it? It can't be, cause the one at the start of the game was huuuuuuge. At any rate, this fuckin thing seems to be unkillable... at what level range should I be?

The post-dragon era feels so much like Nier. It almost made me think it's a Cavia game, or they hired people from Cavia to design it.
Only if I can find some hatred for children in game then I can confirm that the theory is true.

That's funny that you say that. I realized while playing last night that it reminded me very much of Nier in some ways. Just the mood, I guess. And everything being in ruins and shambles helps as well.

Over the short time I had last night I finally switched my pawn from Ranger to Mage, and while she's only rank 5 (I think), she's doing pretty well. And she's got a ton of stamina to just cast spells over and over. Set her up as Mendicant and Utility, so she'll mostly buff everyone and heal when necessary. I'll switch her to Sorc at some point to get a boost to her magic and some of the sweet augments, and then probably back to Mage.

So I rented out some different peeps last night, and I still keep coming back to Brienne. Although Sword and board Brienne is not nearly as effective as two-hander Brienne for some reason. With the skills she had before you switched back to that huge sawbone blade, she would just sit back and block and pound on her shield while waiting for guys to come to her. Leaving others behind her to kind of fend for themselves. Two-hander Brienne challenges shit and smacks the teeth out of things that get too close.

Yeah I like her with her 2H sword a lot. I'll probably be keeping her as a Warrior from now on. I switched out Indomitable Lunge to that whirlwind attack, though, just to see how I like it.

    Yo.

The tactic I advised for killing the drake is hiding like a bitch in a natural bunker that's surprisingly effective at keeping him from hitting you.

If you have a bow this is pretty easy. Basically cripple its wings then focus on the head. If you're a magic archer you can hit every weak point on it and sixfold arrow its heart when its stunned.

Also I reccomend having two warriors who can draw aggro and a sorceror full of ice voodoo. I had a healer but she wasn't as useful (drakes do a metric ton of damage and anodyne isn't that good) there's a camp nearby so you can grab it again later

Also when you hear the almost dead music do not rest easy. Fucker will eat you after it one shots all your pawns.

I have a podcast now. It's about video games and anime!Find it here.

I can't answer that. I know there's an achievement for beating it on a New Game + but that's hardly enough.

I'm kind of tempted to create another Live account and start a new game and just gift myself Portcrystals, really. Because you can buy them in a NG+

I've been playing as a sorceror but been hearing lots of things about how much fun using striders are and ended up starting a new character on a separate account. Friended myself and summoned my sorceror's pawnat the beginning of the game and had my sorceror summon the strider's pawn and load him up with fancy gear. Great fun.

Since I was at the beginning of the game with my main pawn loaded with overpowered gear and an additional pawn (the sorceror's) at level 35 I decided to try blasting through the early parts of the game quickly.

One of the bandits on the way to the Witchwood stabbed me and I died in one hit.

    Damn it.

Again, Maelstrom. I don't need to block, don't need to fight, don't need to do nothing. That talk of no strategy options? Maelstrom makes that true. The only time it doesn't work is indoors (and only then sometimes) and at night when I get jumped.

I started playing this last night. It's....overwhelming to say the least. I just killed a giant 3 headed snake (I think, the battle just sort of jumped to a cut-scene of me cutting the head off despite me not even doing anything) and it's tough figuring out where to go next. I went into a well and fought some lizard men who just dominated me.

Someone explain the red vs orange vs green markers over NPC's heads, are those active/non-active/available quests? Am I always supposed to be heading towards the red circle on my map as a sort of "primary quest" to be completed?

Green means they have a quest for you

Yellow means they're waiting for you to finish the quest (I think), or maybe it means the NPC had info about a different quest that you don't have set as primary.

Red means they NPC has information pertaining to your current active quest.

The red circles on the map are your objectives on most quests. Job board stuff rarely gives you any direction to head in, but those are usually "kill or collect this many things" quests. The game is more about exploring then telling you where to go. Plot quests do give you direction though. Just hang around the encampment/fishing village for a bit. Do the side quests from the village and the job board in the encampment. After that you should be able to beat up the lizardmen in the well, and you'll be better prepared to move on to the capitol city.

Red = quest you currently have selected.
yellow = a quest you have in your quest log
green = will give you a new quest.

If you follow the plot, you will help Mercedes bring the hydra's head to Gran Soren.
But basically, just do whatever the fuck you want.
I'm level 37, have played for like 25+ hours and I just now did the four wyrmhunt quests.

Someone explain the red vs orange vs green markers over NPC's heads, are those active/non-active/available quests? Am I always supposed to be heading towards the red circle on my map as a sort of "primary quest" to be completed?
Red means the person is involved in whatever quest you currently have set as active, orange means they're involved in a quest not currently set as active, and green means they have a quest to give you.

And blue means you can turn in a quest to them

    fuck gendered marketing

Plus, if you use daggers, assassins have a double jump and that's just cool.

I love double jumping, it is the best

Note: Saving the second jump for when you're close to the ground does not negate fall damage.

"A new take on the epic fantasy genre... Darkly comic, relatable characters... twisted storyline."
"Readers who prefer tension and romance, Maledictions: The Offering, delivers... As serious YA fiction, I’ll give it five stars out of five. As a novel? Four and a half." - Liz Ellor

Nor does levitating halfway down a fall. "What's that? You shaved your momentum off? Pffft, gravity gets what is owed!"

Wow, looking at those statistics, I'm in the very bottom of class choice percentiles with both my pawn and I, being a Sorcerer Arisen and a Ranger Pawn.
