Hmm I just checked some chests in the shadow fort and got the same items as last time, while different chests in the same area did get randomised. It might rely on the chest. Maybe some chests have a higher chance of getting the same thing? I'd have to check the same chest like ten times or so to really know and I can't be bothered.

I think each chest has its own (non)randomized loot table

So one chest might always have X, and another might be 50/50 between Y and Z, while a third might have a dozen items on its table

I can attest to validity of this. I had found a direwolf pelt cape in a chest and on another play through I did not.

So here's a handy thing to know. Turns out if you have a rare material that you need to upgrade something, or if you happen to have two out of three materials needed, or whatever, then you can create a forgery and it works just as well.

I forged an Amber Dragon Scale to get up to the three I needed, and instead of "Amber Dragon Scale Forgery" it was just lumped right in with the other two.

So here's a question. Where in the nine tits do I find...Magickal Metal, I think it is? Used in some magic weapons upgrading.

I've gone through the Gran Soren chests about a dozen times now myself. Some of them have the same item every time. Some of them switch between a couple. Others have surprised me.

that Cyclops+Bandits fight on the way up to the Greatwall Encampment is the worst thing

It feels like a total crapshoot as to whether multiple pawns will go flying off the edge

Magic Medal? You use that to upgrade the gold weapons

Which are blingy and all, but much like gold weapons in real life are really expensive and heavy and just worse at actually hurting anything

Cymbal onslaught is the best move. It's a guard crusher knockdown damage blunt attack always at your beck and call.
It wrecks skeletons of all types. It breaks through shield users. It knocks two hander users out of attacks. It's just the best damn move ever. I'm wandering around at night in an area full of skeletons and I fear no evil for my shield is the meanest motherfucking shield you ever did see. Wrecks them.
I have a feeling I'm going to like all the melee classes in this game. I still miss my two hander but my shield is now my buddy also and it is a good buddy.
I still haven't found a fire one or two handed sword. I've found fire daggers, fire mace, fire fighter shield, wheres my damn fire sword.

Also the alternate attack of the one handed sword will plant a shielding skeleton on their face in the dust. I dunno if it does this to other shield users. It's the big overhand strike that does it. I found this out by accident and was like SCORE groundstab.

Is there a set number of items I give to shopkeepers to make them like me? I gave like 10 steaks to that blonde girl and it made a pleasant noise, but she doesn't have anything new yet. Every time I talk to her, I get this noise, telling me I did something right. Did I just make her fall in love with me? >.>

    So question about Soulflayer Canyon.
When I went in there the first time, I had no quests or anything, but there was some sort of cutscene that showed what looked like a small/baby undead dragon who was sinking in the water. I ended up leaving because the route I took send me to the eastern backdoor. I just recently came back and can;t find anything special about the place as far as quests go, and I certainly can't find that undead dragon or whatever it was. What's the dealio?

I love this shit, only thing that annoys me is the black bars and a lack of ragdoll physics when you kill something, which I find pretty unforgivable in this day and age. Like after an epic battle with a cyclops its kind of anticlimactic to see it just jutt out from a slop, as opposed to like rolling down or something. The excellent monster animations go a long way to making up for this tho

I love and hate the pawn rental system. My little fighter keeps going out and coming back well reviewed and happy.

Except this morning, when she came back with five stars in everything and suddenly dressed like a tart instead of her usual fully armored self. I had a long talk with her about drinking with strangers and what exactly she's doing to get all these good reviews.

I've been having a grand old time with the day/night cycle. Every time I go out exploring with no real quest in mind I wind up in crazy night fights because I strayed too far from a rest point and lost track of time. I can't find bow upgrades to save my life however. All the shops seem to have upgraded melee weapon selection, but no new bows.

    Also the dragon fight
The person those goblins capture is the one with highest affinity? I had Quina, Selene, Mal and Mercedes max out and some how Quina is the one I care most.
Also I thought Arisen and her were relative until they made out.

There 's a quest you receive from one of the chamberlain at night ask you to return a letter from Soulflayer Canyon. And another one on message boards to get ten letters from same place.
There 's also a Cockatrice once you have met one after a event.

He travels around a lot. I've seen him in a couple of places. Encampment, great wall and he passed me in front of the inn in gran soren. I said hi.

    ----

I was having a little bit of trouble with some ogres what with not having arc of deliverance and needing to work out how to fight them as fighter. Then my pawn cast maelstrom on the first one. And seism on the second.

There is something to be said about seeing all these spells for the first time from the inside. The whole world goes mad.

I also had a great moment with a berserk golem where I saw my pawn casting meteor storm and started taunting the golem. The golem kept trying to turn back to her and I just kept taunting it. No here. Over here buddy. WHAM WHAM "YOUR MOTHER SMELLS OF SHALE"
Finally it decided to turn and leap on her all in one move...just a microsecond too late. She'd already finished.
