for instance, this album comes with a 70% chance of getting somebody pregnant
The thing is, and this is a first world problem, I'm not really looking at what I'm listening to enough. I'm not used to subscription musical services, but I don't really know what I'm playing unless I'm looking at it, which I'm not.

Bonobo is bae, it's true. Great DJ, great producer, and his live sets are possibly the only thing that would inspire me to take a road trip to see live music for just one night these days.
He was in Seoul when I was there and I missed it, March 2015. I was depressed and in poor health at the time so no shame. I hope he comes to America soon.

Has Bonobo started switching shit up? It's always been one solid-but-not-really-top-tier name in the Ninja Tune chilltronica stable for me, but it seems he's branched out these last years into arenas I'd never guessed?
A buddy played this to me just the other day, and whilst I can't say that I'm that much a fan of this particular track it's a really trippy video.
Edit: Herp derp, remix eh? Oh well, that explains the drumnbass at least. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6qmVNB4nalk
Unrelated, but how in the fuck did Com Truise never release this banger? He hid it away in some blog to just gather power through the years, like some lost or hidden artifact ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B9J7_nIjC4Y
Bonobo's downtempo was much more...downtempo back in the day, and was strictly jazzy elevator music. I'd say in Days to Come and beyond he's louder, with deeper bass and more experimental electronic sounds, and songs with lyrics.
His name must be getting up there if he's DJ with a live orchestra backing him up. See the video above. I got my previous job in Korea hooked on Bonobo with his modern stuff. I like the part where he drops what he's doing an plays a bass guitar.
Fun fact, I've in fact heard his old and new beats in a hotel in Seoul, restaurants, and my own apartment building.
something about this, or last I guess, week's anjunadeep just struck exactly the right chord with me. The whole thing just reminds me of home, and was the perfect thing to drive the stress out of my workday.
What little I've heard from Anjunadeep has given me a very high regard for them. It's not really the dumb chillllll, man shit I'm usually listening to (I actually like that description, @Cantido ) but often still having a reposed or melancholic vibe to the stuff...
This whole record is damn fine, btw. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ag6-yQa05ls
Right there's a fine example of an interesting bit of skeumorphic graphic design I've noted lately: making the "album cover" (itself a dated and possibly obsolete concept) look scuffed and worn.
Pretty much everything electronic goes, so sure! I'm kinda amazed by those fuckers still going at it. They're even coming to a festival here in a couple of weeks or so? Dunno if they're still worth it tho, haven't kept up with them at all...
Although they still did good shit, past their prime. I feel this record is a bit overlooked? Pretty comfy listening all the way through from what I remember! It was a few years since the last time though. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2CF8XbAThBA

I saw them and thievery corp play at the greek theater in berkeley a few years ago, and they killed it. hadn't heard an album of theirs since mezzanine, and still loved the show.
here is a terrible mix i made almost a god damn year ago but its got some EDM maybe you'll like some songs in it
Ooh, are we doing this? I'll be out all weekend, but maybe I could stream a set sometime this week...
i have been listening to a lot of new music lately and had the hankering to make a new one...

so my buddy was cleaning out and getting rid of old mix CDs. we're tight on space but homegirl held on to just a few because they're awesome, one in particular: a tresor mix from 1993.
so many damn classic traxxx on this album that i didn't even realize were made that early
Since Galantis has been brought up now this song needs to be here.
God damn it's so catchy. I love it so much. And I sang along with it way too many times before I managed to realize like every line seems to be about weed.
I don't get crazy at these things, I just relax and mess around with my phone. My friends though...
Whereas for me, an older guy who never dated or clubbed when I was that age, let alone now, and listen to this stuff at home, it's like...
"oh look, here's another generation's coming-of-age experience to miss out on, just like I did my own."

I attended when I was 30 and 31, and I have the face of a 22 year old JRPG hero so I can get away with it. And when I talk to women dating online, they're able to separate the music from the "culture" and alcohol just fine.

oh, don't mind me. I'm just having my occasional twinges about being stiff and boring and introverted and lonely, but too lazy and in a rut to actually do anything about it.
Back on topic, stuff I've listened to and liked lately:
Podly, I can't get enough of your old school electronic music posts. This is like my favorite kind of shit. That Vainqueur track in particular is awesome.

I do not feel any more awkward going to festivals at 35 than I did at 23.
The fact that this is "really frigging awkward" most of the time doesn't have a lot to do with the edm scene.
Edit: shit there are some of huge name DJs that are very close to 50.
Yea man Tiesto is god damn 47.
That fucker still puts on a fun as fk show.
You see people of all ages at festivals/edm shows.
When I was at Tomorrow World there was a couple easily in their late 60s early 70s strolling around just enjoying the place. People giving them high fives as they passed.
Heck, John Digweed's 49, Pete Tong's 56, and John Peel (RIP) was 64 when this was made (though it's mostly a comment on the breadth of stuff he played):
john peel isn't enough
in the early 90's pete tong played hardcore
when it was the right speed
seb plays house
lottie plays house
judge plays housey trance
fergie wont even venture past one hundred and forty-five bpm
so who will support hard dance
surprisingly, the most adventurous is drive time dave pearce
playing oldskool and hard trance on a sunday night
and behond adventurous is john peel
the only hope of a kick drum led track above one hundred and fifty bpm
john peel is not enough
track listing is in the comments. Some work better than others -- Smokebelch II just wrecks me every time, and this particular arrangement is fantastic, but Strings Of Life somehow doesn't go as well as it feels like it ought.
It's also a great video for those moments when the crowd all at once realises what the next song is, which is one of my favorite bits of watching recorded live performances.

Man you're never too old.
Some of these DJs that play the festivals are 40+
Many are in their 30s.
People of all ages are out there.
Just have fun that's what it's about.
