I hope this episode will be remembered as the point where SGU grew a proper beard.
1. Eli proved to be effective rather than mr.exposition/association.
2. Rush was both an ass AND sympathetic at the same time (instead of just being an ass).
3. It's not just moping around anymore. I've missed the grand scheme of previous Stargate series. Something more than just "get home" moping and being victims of circumstance.
Hopefully this will be it.

I am a little worried about the grand revelation though
The background code to the universe and supposed creator aliens of everything
and what that might lead the series to. But in general I like the direction things are going in
