I liked what I've heard of Spring Awakening, although I haven't heard the whole show. I read the synopsis and it seems... how do you say... depressing as hell.
Metzger, why don't you go out for a community theatre thing or somethin'? There are definitely parts that don't require the ability to shuffle off to Buffalo to play.

Man the song they performed from the Shrek musical at the Tonys the other night was great with Lord Farquaad hitting that high note from Defying Gravity at the end.

I was in community theatre when I was younger.
I was in the stage production of A Christmas Story.
I dared the one kid to stick his tongue to the pole.
It was fun, and I did very very well.

I wanna be in a musical so badly but I can NOT fucking dance. My talent is like 100% vocal.
It could be worse - we had a guy in our high school performance of Funny Thing Happened that couldn't sing. We were practicing one of the songs, and about the third time the pianist/vocal coach stopped us and said 'okay, Francis, just mouth the words.'
Geek, did you get to see Evil Dead the Musical? I heard it's awesome. And that you get blood on you in the front rows. Possibly that's why it's awesome, I suppose.
Unfortunately, no. I would really, really like to, though.
god's talking about the shaw play and not the greek myth. the greek myth is where this dude falls in love with a statue he made, and he gives it presents, but he's sad because the statue just stands there. but THEN it's a happy ending because the statue comes to life, and THEN, he sexes up the statue and has a kid with the statue!! ladies and gentlemen, the greek myths

Apparently Billy Elliot is really good, but last time I was in New York I saw In the Heights instead
I think it was worth it

My favourite line from that song is a toss-up between, "In America they haven't spoken it for years," and "The French don't care what they do actually, so long as they pronounce it properly."

I love Threepenny Opera! There's actually footage of Lotte Lenya singing it on youtube; I thought about putting that in the OP, too, but I figured everyone would be freaked out by wacky Germans singing about pirate ships to actually post in the thread. Here, wait, you have given me the courage.
USAGE In modern English hang has two past tense and past participle forms: hanged and hung. Sometime after the 16th century hung replaced the earlier form hanged in general contexts, as in they hung out the washing, while hanged was, as it still is, retained for use in reference to execution by hanging, as in the prisoner was hanged.
Anyways it was just something I was taught and had heard been pointed out about My Fair Lady before. If I'm wrong it is no big deal. I'd rather talk about musicals.

I actually have no science one direction or the other, and a musical about linguistics is not the place to find proper grammar rules
I always heard it was people hanged, paintings hung.
Anyway, I'm sort of a sucker for musical theater, though I probably don't know as much about it as I'd like. I've got a cousin who's a huge nut for it though. I'm more into the ones that have seeped into popular culture and media, like Wicked.
Also, musical episodes of television shows, but that's not really related to this thread.
so I just saw Every Little Step, which is a documentary about auditioning for the 2006 revival of A Chorus Line
I thought it was a fascinating look at auditioning, but it didn't make much of a connection to the source. It could have been about auditioning for really any show. Overall, though, very good.
you need to run this sort of action by the musical club before you do anything
talk to me, Monkeyfeet, Sarukun or Khavall about joining
anyway, musicals!
I saw the Aussie production of Avenue Q last Sunday (I'd seen it in Vegas with most of the original cast) and still fucking adored it, seeing it again tonight
I'm utterly sick of Wicked and want it out of my town, even though I liked it every time I saw it
my girlfriend and I are trying to get a production of The Last Five Years going sometime next year, so mad props to whoever mentioned that, it's my second favourite show
uh what else uh
I totally missed Billy Elliot here but I don't give a shit
bought the Next to Normal soundtrack the other day but haven't listened to it
if there's any JRB fans in the thread tell me what you think of 13, I like it a lot
and finally
I was recently in a (godawful except for about 5 people) musical revue type thing where I was, among other things, Corny Collins from Hairspray in Nicest Kids in Town
I have a fantastic photo of it that I'll post when I find it

LOOK at her, a prisoner of the gutters!
CONDEMNED by every syllable she utters!
By rights she should be taken out a hung
For the cold-blooded murder of the English tongue!
AAAGONYYYY

When you know she would go with you, if there only were doors!

You also missed Bret Michaels get damn near decapitated by a falling piece of set.
Also it was fucking great seeing Liza Minnelli come out on stage, after seeing her in Arrested Development.
Unfortunately, no. I would really, really like to, though.
Ignore the first few seconds and last few minutes of Rosie.

this chick's got a serious set of lungs on her.
Aaaaayyyoooww, heavens, what a sound.
This is what the British population
calls an elementary education!
Come, sir, I think you've picked a poor example....
Did I?
Hear them down in SoHo Square, dropping "H"'s everywhere!
Speaking English any way they like!
You sir, did you go to school?
Whad'ya tayke me fo', a foo'?
Well, seems no one taught him take instead of "tayke"!
Edit: Damn, Geek, you were not kidding, holy shit.
I think it was worth it

Also I've always liked how Henry Higgins used "hung" instead of "hanged" in that song. Dude needs help with his english.
Gramatical as hell, Octy.

My mom got to see the original Broadway cast for Spamalot with Tim Curry, David Hyde Pierce, Hank Azaria, and such.
I've always been taught otherwise.
Care to fail again, or were you finished, there?
Would the OED be better?
