Completely legit as in not using admin/console commands of some sort. It's always balanced to the pubs favor, or blatantly obvious, of course, And sometimes it's entirely visual.
Witch trees in the skybox are quite the amazing sight, as is the game show "dodge that minigun!"
Still waiting on the video from MrDelish of that...
I've needed to do more of that since I had to format about three months ago
I keep forgetting! It was awesome, but it needed something else to really live up to it's potential. Once Duke finishes the thing I asked him to do I think we can make it even better.
On a similarly related note of over-thinking things, does it bother anyone else when abandoned/non-parked cars have car alarms in the game? Even valve does it. They're placed askew in the middle of the street as if they were abandoned in the middle of chaos and disaster, but if you abandoned your car in the middle of the road, would you stop and click the alarm button on the key fob before running for your life? Are these people really worried about car theft in the middle of a zombie apocalypse? Parked in a car garage, that makes sense: a car that has been alarmed for a while before the chaos, but a car that's been abandoned?
Some cars these days have an auto-engaging alarm system that works off of RFID. You just get out of range of the car with the keys and it locks it and turns on the alarm. And some people are paranoid bastards even in the middle of a zombie apocolypse.
it's pretty natural to see bad players on cons, because the circumstances are usually not exactly in favour of skills.
Either you're playing with people you've never seen before or you're being hassled in a busy environment where you can barely hear the game in the first place.

When there is a literal sea of people behind you, taking pictures and video and talking and jostling you, you'll too find that shooting straight is suddenly a challenge.
The worst I have to deal with is my kitten jumping up and pawing at the screen. He wants to kill zombies too, bless his heart.

Some interesting info about the jockey, AI Director changes, few other tidbits. But the biggest thing I took from it....there will be Carnival Games
I'm pretty amazed that not only did Valve actually invite these guys over, but that it seems to have had a positive effect. I can't think of another games company that's done something like this. It's not as if Valve need to, I mean crap, nobody really listens to these guys and they're really not likely to have much actual effect on sales.

They should have got 4 boycotters and 4 supporters together and had them do a vs match.
i love the idea of a super hunter. even just a non-fragile hunter, who can survive multiple assaults on the survivors, would be pretty nasty, but a big high-damage hunter who has a lot of health? that would be awesome. especially if his pounce smashed survivors aside, rather than pinning them.
the problem of course is that a really mobile tank-level threat is extremely hard to balance. i imagine that's why the charger has so little health.
In other mapping news, I was looking around for some ways to do tricky things in mapping, and found a couple of good reads. Obviously, they're mostly for newer mappers (i.e. not La Cabra) but I found them useful enough to post.
This post has some really good info on how mobs, crescendos, and the director work together, and is a worthwhile read for any unusual panic events you might be planning.
The second is about an issue with the VPK packing system and some file overrides that every mapper should read.
The second is a bitch of a problem because the Silent Hill campaign, for some fucking reason, overwrote a few of the commentary sounds in the developer commentary map. The original sound files are still in my directory, but I guess he piggy-backed to simplify putting custom sound in the game. Unfortunately deleting the add-on hasn't fixed my developers commentary.

I used to wonder how anyone could really enjoy the game on "Normal".
Then I kept seeing the gameplay videos from various cons. Seriously, it's like they deliberately pick the worst players every time.
You might want to avoid watching the Tank gameplay video. Even though the team somehow managed to survive, it'll make you cry.

D'awwwwwwwwww
they came out say that Left 4 Dead 2 felt tight and that they couldn't go into specifics but they are definitely not done with the first game.
So they were basically rewarded for asinine behavior?
Well, Valve trying to sway the opinions of the people telling everyone not to buy their game is a good idea.
but still..getting to go to valve headquarters for being a huge doucher..
Maybe we can go if we start an Episode 3 boycott.

Best idea ever ;-):^:
Some quick checking around, and it's actually from an official post on the L4D2 boycott Steam group:

Whoever won was the one with the correct opinion.
I'm with you on the episode 3 boycott if it gives me a free trip to valve.

Huh, they talk about Death Abroad. I like how deep they go into L4D gameplay

gut sweat, fanny packs and... golden crowbars?
This picture hits all the sweetspots.
He should get up after everything that happens to him and just say,
"Good thing i'm indestructable"
and just keep going.
