And lo, a thread was born which had lots of awesome moments,
highlighting character defining pages/panels, or just plain cool moments.
But it died, shot in an alley as it left a screening of Zorro.
Here is the body, filled with 100 pages of fun
But its son lives on, filled with one defining purpose, to make more awesome moments available to us all:
Things that show us the true character:Things that are just cool:And things that are just the best thing to grace paper:
Hawkeye's thought bubbles right there are the best thing in any Mini Marvel strip.
So let the cycle begin, and maybe this time it won't be sent back into the distant past to start the whole thing over again.

Edit: Also, you should link the old thread for posterity's sake. Think of the children!
Assuming I'm remembering right and that was in that issue..

What's the other negative?
But one night they got really really drunk and had a kid called Awesom-o.
The "Texas is the best and here's some comic moments" thread? I'm down with that.
I'm trying to make Lemonade from these lemons, people. I deserve a Nobel Prize.
*OP posts 12 pages of Marvel Minis*
And Jeff Parker is cool too: I miss Mike Wieringo.
When some terrorists demand that the missing and presumed dead Captain America be released to him, he doesn't show, and some punk FBI agent starts talking crap about Cap. Hercules puts him in his place:
Cap has just watched Michael Korvac, who was a God-like Sentry character, beat the shit out of the rest of Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy, killing many of the most powerful supers in the universe:
Baron Zemo creates the strongest Masters of Evil team ever and manages to capture the Avengers mansion and Cap by surprise, and is determined to break Cap's spirit before killing him:
And one last cool Cap moment, from the end of Busiek's Avenger's run. Kang has conquered the Earth while Cap and the Avengers were on a mission in space. When they come back, they are able to destroy Kang's orbiting weapons and force him down to Earth:
I never get tired of seeing that page.
Arguably one of the most badass things to ever feature an anthropomorphic duck.
Here's a little something from Kyle Baker's Plastic Man.
From Superman Beyond.
Probably my favorite moment from Seven Soldiers.
A little Atomic Robo badassery.
From Spider-Man v.s. Powdered Toast Man.
From Birds of Prey.

I love how Ferry drew the spit curl even for lil' Clark
from Planetary/Batman: Night On Earth (AKA: Cassaday draws many versions of Batman, all of them awesome)
from Alan Moore's Top Ten #10 (spoilers if you haven't read the series, in which case you really should)
Like when he acts as a stagehand for Zatanna:
Or how considerate speedsters are with their speed:
I love that evolution of speed, way to ruin everything Johns!

By the way, I became a bunny owner in the time since I first read we3, so rereading it now makes it even more affecting. I didn't think that it was possible!
from Akira v.3: (heavy spoilers!)
Which leads to:
Which leads to:
I'm assuming from context (though I haven't actually read the books, just seen the movie) that it is Akira, causing the psychic event that wiped out original Tokyo, leaving way for Neo-Tokyo. Of course, as I said, I'm just guessing.
I'd like to know why the dude shot the other kid though. Doesn't seem like a smart thing to do when dealing with kids who have super powers. Just shooting them through the head in front of other kids with super powers... Not a wise move, career wise.
There is a manga by Nihei, who is most famous for a bizarre Wolverine story and the manga Blame!, called Biomega. I read it years ago, through fan-translations. It is now coming out in the US some time soon, so I won't post any of the fan-trans'd scans. It had some really awesome pages/panels showing how fast the protagonist moved.
Akira.
He was trying to take out Akira, who is much more powerful/dangerous than the others.
Random House is reprinting the 6-volume set of Akira TPBs. The movie is pretty good, but if you have a little over $100 (online prices) to spread across the next year or so, I highly recommend these. Or bug your library to pick them up.
If Diamond stopped carrying it or DC stopped printing it, that would be madness. Amazon is listing it as available, so you should be able to get it through them or a standard bookstore.
I did pass it along to others who told me if was fucked up in an awesome way.
Very, very cool
A wise decision. There's two TPBs, but the last few issues of the series were never collected, so you'll have to go diving through back issue bins for those.
