There is decidely a difference between classes like

    American Lit and

Post-modern perspectives on Irish film and literature

where the latter comes latter in your college career and you would naturally be inclined to think that english is cake early on. I don't know if that is the case though

even within those boundaries there were still easier and harder professors

usually the difference was that harder ones asked for more reading and longer, more frequent papers

I take classes from teachers I like, regardless of the class load. English is more of a hobby for me, and I find things that challenge me to be entertaining so I seek them out. However, most English professors that I have had decide to spend their time discussing things that are completely irrelevant and I find my time is better spent outside of the classroom reading the book and or writing whatever essays they have assigned.

No, unless the version of Pride and Prejudice has something better than a painting of ninjas surrounding a girl holding a katana inside

tell me what you think of Max Brook's magnum opus World War Z please. Afterwards, I'd like to hear what you think of George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire

    World War Z was amazing

Can't find A Song of Ice and Fire anywhere, then again that is the downside of living in an bass-ackwards hick town in between PA and MD

that is not very much dude

i think you should give him another shot, perhaps with someone who is a little more hard core about it

my teacher was a blake scholar who wrote like five books on the dude, she knew what was up and got us all really psyched about him

    no i mean
i had to read all of that in a day
then we discussed it for several weeks afterward, always with the book open in front of us talking about specific passages.
my teacher hated blake as much as i do
    i have no regrets

she also doesn't like oscar wilde like me

I have a love/hate relationship with professors who do things like that. On one hand, it is nice to not have to study. On the other hand, I'd like to actually have an intelligent discourse about the subject matter rather than listen to what infinitely adorable thing the professor's child did that day.

ok yeah i would punch that dude so hard

actually no, i would drop the class, i did that once with a guy who was utterly useless

it was a creative writing class

my husband took his class later but couldn't transfer out and ended up writing a poem about the professor being killed by a cheetah

world war z is pretty meh
    ice and fire is awesome
the far side hates it because it is misogynistic
which is the most baffling argument i've ever seen

oh no women in a medieval setting are being ill-treated

what a horrible message to send to people today

also the far side had some other silly goose arguments for why it's bad
    it is not fine literature
but damn if it isn't entertaining

    9 of them were hitchcock

    okay yes he is important

    but really

    more than half the films?
