I have dental insurance through my company and Chelsea has coverage as my "domestic partner". She needed to go get a cleaning and exam. No problem. Calls up the dentist, yep they take the insurance. Makes the appointment and all is well. Goes, turns in the card and yep...they take it.
She has a few cavities, makes another appointment to get them filled and yep. No problem. They take the card.
Fast forward to now...the dentist hasn't been paid and is coming after us, insurance is saying that we went to an out of network dentist and oh hey..here's the bill.
I paid off the first half of the bill, but I honesty think I'm about to call back and lose my mind with the dentist office. I mean...they said they took the insurance. Is that not bait and switch? Cause seriously...1,200? Yea...I may be backing out of PAX and the beer gathering.
dude, yeah, call their asses up. it's the dentist's office fault for saying they are a part of that insurance when they weren't
On the phone with them now. Already paid half, going to argue the second half.
I just managed to work my way through the admin, the office manager and the head whoever in a span of 10 minutes and was told no at each level, argued and was passed along until the last guy told me if I refused to pay a collection agency would be contacting me shortly and then he hung up.

time to get new insurance
Can't.
At least not until 1/1 of next year. Time to...pay them and realize that I was just screwed out of the cash. And to also find another dentist it would seem. And she needs to get her fucking wisdoms yanked.
it's likely the Dentist Office's fault, not the insurance.
do this: contact your insurance and tell them there's a Dentist Office out there claiming to accept the insurance company's customers. the insurance company is going to be PISSED OFF and should give the Dentist Office an earful, at the very least.
while that's happening, contact your state's Attorney General office and tell them your story. what the Dentist Office is doing is essentially fraud, and there may be some consumer protections in your State which can help.
edit: if you can hold out, DON'T PAY. this is bullshit.

hey FF, can I have you on retainer for when I get arrested?
I went to a really strict school in the midwest that banned: gum, soda, nail polish, backpacks, tank tops, books other than textbooks, music devices, talking anytime except during lunch, hats, and the color orange.

What types of jobs do you think I could get coming out of college next year with an Ethical Philosophy degree and two minors in Film Studies and Technical Theater? In addition I'll have been an RA for three years and been active on the college radio station for 3 years as well.
Where & for what do you think people would want to snag a great find like me? I've also been looking into law enforcement lately as I think investigation would be right up my alley.
are you limited by geography?
Not particularly, why do you ask?
helps joe and others to know where we can search for job postings. if you aren't limited by geography it widens the search by a lot.
are you certified with anything? what exactly kind of technical experience do you have? sound boards? lighting? etc.?
I have experience (I don't know about official certification) in:
Radio sound boards
Theater sound boards
Production management
And hope to have experience by the time I graduate with:
Lighting equipment
Stage shop equipment
Field film production equipment
When do you graduate and around where do you go to school? Would it be possible to still get an internship?
I graduate next spring (2011) and I attend Central Washington University in Ellensburg, Washington.

Editing these photos makes me want to stab myself in the face.
Oh, and now it appears that the fire alarm is blaring at my apartment and chelsea is doing what she can to get the cats into the boxes and get themselves outside...just in case.

sure. my going rate involves kneepads-per-hour, just so you know.
Wait, Zip, why is the insurance company giving you the bill and threatening a collection agency if they didn't pay out to the dentist?
The dentist is the one giving me the bill and doing the threatening...and winning it would seem.
'Hey, I know we said that we accepted your insurance, but it turns out that your insurance company doesn't want to pay us so I guess we, in fact, do not accept your insurance so now you pay us' sounds kind of like bullshit to me.
I'm going to be working and taking classes this summer but next summer I'm hoping to get into one.
In regards to the media thing, I am interested in the entertainment industry but can you think of any possible positions that would work well with my philosophy degree?

you might be able to do sound tech/editing at a studio or advertising agency, same with film editing/tech.
could maybe do camera stuff at a local broadcasting station, talk to cracked lens about that.
when i saw ethical philosophy part of me thought about ethical business practices, there might be something along that road for you. but you'd probably need an MBA is supplement it.
your radio work might actually get you in line for some advertising/marketing firms.

seriously, screw you system.
On the phone with them now. Already paid half, going to argue the second half.
Each insurance company negotiates lower rates with certain doctors, and that makes up their "network". And yes, it is a weird system we have.
when will the silly geese on the right get it into their heads that a little, itsy, bitsy tiny bit of socialism is a good thing.
but then it is 3:00 and your thinking "shit..if I eat now, i wont be hungry for dinner. but i don't know if i can last that long"

Nope. Why would they, the office isn't part of the network and doesn't accept the insurance.

Huh, I just wondered because with some insurance there's reduced coverage for out of network, but I guess it varies
