i hope 3d tvs stay out for a while so i can pick up a top notch 1080p 50 incher for a reduced, non 3d price. I mean damn, i know people that are still resisting blueray, tons of people.
I've already seen some 52 inchers up here at 1080p going for 1,200 bucks (CDN).
Also I still know people resisting too but they are being reduced in number. They all used to love borrowing movies from my collection because I had a TON of stuff, but now they come over and they're like, "Oh hey can I borrow a movie what do you have that's ne--- oh fuck all you have is blurays....those work in a DVD player?"
I'll never go back to DVD, I hate watching it now. Although there is the odd exception that still looks really good on DVD.
I just got back from seeing this movie. Here is my review:
It is a series of plot devices stuck end to end to form some illusion of plot advancement. There are a million characters that they try to make you feel for, but then they are removed from the story line which makes you doubt their importance in the film at all. The scenes that you think should be fleshed out aren't at all, and the ones that should be shorter are too long.
I didn't think it was that good, but hey, it was free.

The premise of the movie seems to be a very realistic one (Being a super hero would get you killed fast), but the action scenes look over-the-top and ridiculous. How are these things reconciled?

regarding kick ass, i have not seen it but read the first volume comic. ending question.
Does the movie end when the first volume of the comic ends, when kickass is back to getting beat up in school and red mist is trolling in his computer? Or did i misread and the whole comic ends completely there?

MAJOR spoiler alert: example of one thing they did wrong in Clash which seemed to pop up a lot
After Persius turns the kraken to stone with medusa's head (which doesn't make sense since earlier they said that only men could be affected, and this was proven with the tree man who wasn't turned to stone), Hades pops up to Persius and is pissed as all fuck that he messed things up. You are thinking, "Ok, so here comes some real plot progression. The demi god will fight Hades to restore order! Yay!"
But you're wrong. He just says a one liner, gets his sword struck by lightning and banishes Hades back to the underworld in one foul swoop. Lame.
The parts that SHOULD have had meaning and impact were all these little tiny tid bits instead. It was lame.

Now I'm starting to think I should just see this in 2D. Some of the reviewers are saying that they took their 3D glasses off, preferring to see a blurry image rather than the 3D because it was that bad.
I wish I was watching it. Instead, I've got to wait two and a half hours so I can get through our second print of Why Did I Get Married Too first. Just finished screening the first print, and Clash comes after this. Rottentomatoes and IMDB both have WDIGMT listed as a "Comedy". I don't think they've seen it.
No, the burn marks used to be in the corners or whatever but I've started seeing them in the middle of the screen more recently. Although now that I think of it I guess you can burn them together wherever the hell you want.
