Went to the D'backs game tonight to see Dontrelle Willis pitch for us for the first time. Wasn't dominating, but was just a wily picture and went 6 innings, no runs allowed.
'cause in his debut, against the Rockies, Cain went five innings, gave up 2 ER (on a Matt Holliday HR), struck out 2 and walked 4. He got tagged with the loss.
Strasburg went 7, also gave up 2, but struck out 14 and walked none. I don't see how that's comparable.
If you're talking about how they did today, even if Cain's performance was better than Strasburg's (and I think it's debatable, looking at the numbers -- obviously Cain gave up fewer runs but he also gave up more walks and struck out far fewer), we're talking about this kid's first game in the big leagues. If he keeps it up at this rate -- and of course he could blow out his labrum tomorrow or have a Rick Ankiel-style freakout -- I think it's pretty fair to say that the odds are good that he'll have a better career than Matt Cain. Cain's an excellent pitcher, don't get me wrong, but Strasburg tonight looked like a freak.

Linking because it's like 2.5 mb.
I feel bad when people get hurt in silly ways
But it's an old gif anyway.
what isn't old is the twins' inability to close out games
for everything
Of course this is during games against the Royals and Mariners, but at least they are responding well to adversity.

Because the draft is the highlight of their year.
Well, now.
They don't have the rights, I think, considering they're showing it on the MLB Network.
He looks really good, by the way.
Fair enough, it's only the Pirates, but still...
You mean today, or in his debut?
