apparently New Zealanders really don't want this movie to film somewhere else
Wow. I mean, it makes sense so they could try to reshoot the same locations for the Shire, but is there any particular news that they were looking to go elsewhere?
Peter Jackson was talking about it because some actors' union was flipping their shit and telling NZ actors not to support the production, and even though that issue's been resolved Jackson says it really soured the whole relationship and he's thinking about filming in other countries
You know I've never listened to the commentaries on my Extended Edition DVDs
I think I listened to parts of the one on Fellowship but I've never sat down specifically to hear the commentary and I don't think I've ever heard the ones on TTT and RotK

But I'm listening to them now at 2:30 AM
confession: one week I watched the cast commentaries all the way through in one sitting
it was really weird because at one point the actors say "You know people are just going to get all the extended commentaries together and watch them in one sitting" and another dude spoke up "man how could anyone do that"

Christopher Lee says he's too old to go to New Zealand, so, if they want him for Saruman (if they plan on doing White Council stuff), they're going to have to go to England at least a wee bit.

The best commentaries are Venture Brothers commentaries.
Christopher Lee is actually the wizard that delivered the Red Book of Westmarch to JRR Tolkien, having become good friends with the writer after having left Middle Earth.
He removed all the pages dealing with vampires though, after Bram Stoker had ruined that biography he tried to get him to write.

One thing I learned from the commentaries is that Christopher Lee knows exactly what the sound of a knife sticking into someone's back sounds like

I was about to post this, it is the coolest part of the commentaries by far.
"I was supposed to fall of the tower, screaming, and I looked over at Peter and I said 'Peter, do you know how it sounds to stab a man in the back?' And he said 'Uh...no?' And I said "Oh well, I do, and it's completely silent, because you deflate their lungs before they have a chance to cry out'

I am John Remero's Bitch.
Suck it down.
The interviews usually consisted of questions like "Don't your HUGE WOMAN BREASTS get in the way of THE KEYBOARD!?"
I followed that shit since it was called Project Ego.

i thought that was just what middle earth was called these days.
Is all of New Zealand's economy based on Lord of the Rings? Actually, it probably is now that I think about it. Just sheep and Lord of the Rings.

I...I get distracted by these things.

it looks like a goddamn fairy-tale land.
yeah I've wanted to go there for years
my only consolation when we lost was that it sounds like a former communist bloc country and therefore was probably a terrible shithole.
nope.
Also his wife looks like a dark sorceress
well yes, but like any clever immortal he has to disappear for a hundred years or so every so often or people get suspicious

And so we did the scene and I didn't scream"
