OLD ART: SENTIMENTAL OVERWROUGHT BULLSHIT
MODERN ART: CRUDE SOPHISTRY
POSTMODERN ART: FUCK OFF
ok I'll stop now
what I like in videogames is the effective use of a unique looking aesthetic
to this end, I like cartoonier styles like Psychonauts or stuff like Okami, or even more abstract looking stuff like that one where you had to eat things to get bigger and bigger
the more realistic looking games I don't find as interesting visually
or at least, I don't find them as interesting as long
I agree to an extent
I also think realistic looking games have their place as art because they can kind of be more immersive, and I feel immersion is a major component of the artsyness of a game
I'm trying to think about this because "not realistic" is a little inaccurate. I think maybe it's just unusual settings, forms, colors, and scale.

wanna keep talking about this but I gotta go to dinner! GRAAAAHHHHHH THREAD
i think my favorite games are chrono trigger, killer 7, skies of arcadia, eternal darkness, and shadow of the colossus
world of warcraft too but i think of it differently since it's just been a part of my life for years now, instead of being a single discrete experience

listening to what you guys are saying this is for sure a "hey guys look at all these videos games we love!" and not an art thing
i mean goldeneye seriously
If this were a book display would you choose books that you personally enjoyed or were touched by or some other book that by some archaic measurement was more "art"?

I want to do with you
What spring does with the cherry trees.
I've only played Twilight Princess, but man I didn't enjoy that game at all.
it was super boring and the story was awful
especially the ending, what the fuck
I got up to the bit with the monkey temple and go fed up with the amount of backtracking. Also the game looked like a butt, and all the waggle felt pointless.
i really liked heavy rain, but its glaring plot holes are kind of tough to get over
reading an interview with the creator where he described one of his bullshit red herrings as a macguffin started to make me think that he just isn't as smart as i'd like him to be
he later expressed surprise when the interviewer asked why the police never seemed to find out about that guy ethan kills and then vomits next to. he seemed unaware of dna as a thing.

no book, play, movie or other thing
can compare to the emotion of Aerith (NOT AERIS BAKA GAIJIN WESTERN SCUM) sacrificing herself to cast Holy against the terror of Sephiroth
Or when Barreth murdered his best friend cause he.... was... uh... a gun arm guy...
oh wait he killed himself cause he... killed people...
REDXIII's part always gets to me for real tho

part of me is ashamed I voted for fallout
but then i remember that fallout is incredible and i stop feeling bad
Steam
that they dressed Aeris all princess purity like
when she was clearly more outgoing
and Tifa as dressed all sexy
when she seemed more quiet
FF7 is the defining moment of our time
???- 0 - BC (jesus christ is born)
0 - 1998 AD (end of pre FF7 era)
1998- present (post FF7 era)
this is the year 13 AFF7
highest 5s
Wind Waker is the best cell-shaded game in history, visually anyway
Dear satan I wish for this or maybe some of this....oh and I'm a medium or a large.
WHERE ARE THE FEMALE CAT THINGS?!

in videogames, that is Grandia for me
it was a really singular experience to me
i found myself probably more engrossed by that game than anything else

maybe esoteric, academic, technical
I've never played Killer 7, so the name always makes me think of Killer Instinct.
