Well that photo from the recent Cap shoot pretty confirms how he comes to be in this time period.

I am watching Almighty Thor on SciFi. No way does this knockoff Thor movie in the theatres compete with this masterpiece.

Took me a bit to realize what the post credits scene meant. All in all I dug Thor. Got bored with Fast Five though and instead went to a bar.

    Whoa

I would have put hard cash on TLB loving Fast Five and thinking Thor was for gay communists, or something

anyway I saw thor and it was pretty bitchin' but I did not care for Natalie Portman at all

but then I don't know why Thor needs a love interest at all

I guess it was integral to this particular plot but they coulda done something else

Thor is one of the few heroes that doesn't have some chick he's all moon eyed over

    aside from Sif, I guess

    The ending
Thor screaming out for Loki as Odin banished him down to Earth went over well with me, especially with the new Journey into Mystery run and kid-Loki, with his stick-of-great-stabbing

    Except that
    Odin didn't banish Loki
Loki let go of the spear on his own because he'd disappointed his dad again and he couldn't take it

They both tried to tell him not to let go

Am I seriously the only one who thought Hopkins was awful outside of the Banishment scene?

    His lines during
the Thor/Loki brawl were so terrible. "No, Loki." in particular.

Having seen Wolfman, it seems like Hopkins doesn't take these fantasy movies seriously and phones it in.

Blank, underselling is not the same as phoning it in

I thought it was rather a quiet performance for the head of a pantheon but for the most part I thought he did fine

I mean, he's thousands of years old and tired as hell

    Odin should have majesty though

I get that he is tired but seriously he sounded like he was going to fall asleep mid-way through half of his lines
    Oh waaaaaaaaaaaaaait

and like I said, he did the exact same thing in Wolfman and partially in Beowulf

Was the 3D even detectable in Thor? I can't remember a single part where I even noticed it. The trailers had better 3D than the movie ffs.

I could've put those two dollar bills to better use as origami eyeglasses.

    Movie was pretty good though.

At this point I'm pretty convinced that 3D, in most cases, is just a way of charging more and preventing piracy

I am pretty sure the film reels for Avengers are just going to burst into flame the first scene Hemsworth, Downey, Evans and Renner have together.

    Okay, let's talk Renner
Is it bad that I just imagine he's playing his character from The Hurt Locker?
Because it seems to work pretty much perfectly

And he sold me from the moment he said "you want me to slow him down, or you wanna send in more guys for him to beat up?

Also I continue to love Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson
It's like Coulson knows exactly what kind of story he's in and what's going to lead to the best outcome

    Especially
when he clearly sees that the "Donald Blake" identity is bullshit but gets that sly little smile and lets him go anyway

    Coulson is just fantastic.
My girlfriend was like "but why did they steal everything and then let him go? It seemed like SHIELD was the bad guy?" and I had to explain that Coulson knows what a weird world he lives in.

    As for Renner
I loved the cameo. Somehow they managed to pull off Clint Barton's personality in 4 lines. The one that completely sold me was "You better hurry up, cause I'm starting to root for this guy."

One thing I really wish they would carry over from Ultimate Hawkeye that I know they won't is that Barton wears glasses.

It isn't a big thing but it adds a bit of character and helps differentiate him from everyone else, looks-wise.

Pretty bad movie that was really predictable, and every time Natalie Portman said something sciency I wanted to disappear into my seat.

That said, Idris Elba owned every scene he was in, so that was cool.
