My family calls that a "no-wiper". You use one square of toilet paper and it comes back clean. It's like finding a $100 bill in your pocket. Always makes my day.
Donkey Kong on
Thousands of hot, local singles are waiting to play at bubbulon.com.
If I could have any job in the world it might just be professional costume designer.
I bet that is a lot of work.
I'm thinking of those reality tv shows where a bunch of fashion designers compete to make runway outfits. Looks really stressful.

I'm supposed to be programming computers but I did that for about 6 hours already and I am kind of done for today. My brain isn't producing code unbidden, at any rate.
Thousands of hot, local singles are waiting to play at bubbulon.com.
Creative juices are burbling around in my head now. I've spent most of a day digging around the internet looking at game engines.
Unity
Unreal
Source
Torque3d
CryEngine
Begun drawing the character bios together and collecting all the bits I've written for the story.
Soon I will start a "How do I become a game developer" thread in H/A.
I am really ambivalent about Unity. On the one hand, it's pretty impressive. But on the other, probably has the most draconian license terms / costs.
It seems very mobile / flash focused. That's not really where I want to go with this idea, though.
what are you looking to target? A desktop experience? Mobile? Tablet? Console?
Desktop / Console. Part of the idea is to offer a server backend and DM client, NWN style, and generate revenue from players who want to build their own worlds.

one time I was visiting a casual acquaintance in another city and we got a motel room because her house was being fumigated and somehow that translated into having sex
it was great because one thing segued smoothly into another with no hesitation or interruptions but to this day I cannot remember how I pulled it off and it has set an unrealistic expectation for all future dates, non-dates, brunches, and casual meetings
this is how it should be
every person who doesn't like an acquired taste always seems to think everyone who likes it is faking it. it should be an official fallacy.
the "no true scotch man" fallacy.

Sometimes I have those and they are great. Have you ever had a poo that was quick, clean, painless, makes you think that it was a fairly small and insignificant poo and then you look down and it is the most massive thing you have ever gazed upon, a log worthy of the term Shai'hulud?

For sure. Which is why I just would like to magically have the job and skill set. Getting such a job myself, the real way, sounds substantially less awesome.
man. Every game uses the Unreal engine. Also, the website section on acquiring it for building a game is a politely worded "if you're not already a pro, kindly fuck off"

Wait, so the game is "If I could have any skill(s) and any job it would be (_____)?"
And you chose costume designer? What is wrong with you?!
You should have said Porn Star Quality Control Agent or something.

Interesting. That's a hell of a project (in terms of scale).

Torque3d has the networking components as a core part of the suite - no persistence though, the team would have to develop that. Also, no quest scripting or dialog tools available so those would have to be built as well.
All the engines I've looked at today seem much more focused on FPS style, or iOS casual style. And Unreal seems basically unattainable.

Right now my ideal job would be developing touch-based games for tablets. Preferably using .NET.
Have you played with Unity at all?
A bit yeah. Was looking at hooking it into the input system on a Surface 2 unit. Still might get around to that but it would mean writing a HID driver which is less than fun.
Though Unity uses Mono .NET. So FUCK THAT. Would rather just go with C++ than deal with mono.

But god damn

I admire your love of costumes. From the future.
What do you wear when Tribes-ing?
But costumes are so cool!
