It's so much sadder watching that knowing that Nani has been practicing non-stop with the best Startale Terrans. With MVP's wrists problems and the state of TvP, I would easily give the edge to Nani in any game that reaches mid-game on a fairly even footing.
At the same time though, no such thing as blind luck in a Bo5 with this long of a preparation time. The better player advanced.
i'm sure MVP agreed with you completely which is why he went for the builds that he did in games 2 and 4
nani made a lot of mistakes, too, that could easily be chalked up to bad nerves - but bad nerves don't get you into Ro4
Exactly, I agree 100%. MVP knew what the best chances of him winning were, and he fucking seized that shit. Cheesy/allin? Yes. But with this long to prepare, Nani should have held them, ESPECIALLY when he scouted. And all competitive gaming has a mental meta-game as well as the mental game itself.
MVP played to win, and he advances for it. Good on him, it's been a while. I missed his presence, even though I would have preferred to see him get here through his management games.

Nadal has a really good quotation about the mental aspect of competition. It applies differently to competitive gaming than it does to traditional sports (like the tennis he plays) but nonetheless, it is undeniably true:
During a match, you are in a permanent battle to fight back your everyday vulnerabilities, bottle up your human feelings. The more bottled up they are, the greater your chances of winning, so long as you’ve trained as hard as you play and the gap in talent is not too wide between you and your rival. The gap in talent with Federer existed, but it was not impossibly wide. It was narrow enough, even on his favorite surface in the tournament he played best, for me to know that if I silenced the doubts and fears, and exaggerated hopes, inside my head better than he did, I could beat him. You have to cage yourself in protective armor, turn yourself into a bloodless warrior. It’s a kind of self-hypnosis, a game you play, with deadly seriousness, to disguise your own weaknesses from yourself, as well as from your rival.

MVP didn't even do anything particularly ridiculous. There was nothing that Naniwa lost to that he couldn't have stopped. If anything, had Naniwa won off management/macro games, there would have been more imbalance favoring him than MVP received from the early game TvP favoring.

Why do pro Protoss always pull all their probes AFTER two fucking bunkers are up and filled?
If naniwa had pulled all his probes when he had two zealots and the bunker was half done he would have fucking annihilated that push. there was four scvs and five marines. His army would wreck that. Instead he killed two scvs in exchange for most of the health on both his zealots, then lost.

I would argue that Oz is inferior to Parting in both PvP and PvT. Oz was very much a PvP specialist, but he hasn't been doing very well recently in any of his matchups, even in his "sniping" matchup.

NO WRISTS, NO PROBLEM
I like Oz and he's the better pvp player but parting has been stronger lately and I really think Oz has nerve issues.
Show me where in those games MVP did anything that a gold league player couldn't have done.
MVP 1a-d marines into his base.
Naniwa killed himself in both of the cheese games with a bad reaction, and not perfect micro.
and then it will be nothing but minimal techno and french house
all goddamn day

the old adage "don't hate the player, hate the game" comes to mind.......
absolutely
i'm going to broker an agreement between GOM, Warp Records and Hyperdub, and i'm going to start a revolution
gamers worldwide will see that there's more to electronic music than the shitawful brostep most of them listen to

Parting definitely better chance vs MVP.

you just have to understand that in settings like the GSL, the concept of "not doing dickish builds" goes out the fucking window
if doing cheesy annoying all-ins will win you the series, then you do cheesy annoying all-ins
if you aren't there to beat everyone you play and win the whole thing, then why are you there?
