Make sure to update your feeds everyone, our special PAX East episode is now live. This is a short one that NHH, Pedro and I recorded together in Pedro's hotel room.
We will be recording our next episode soon and plan on going more in depth on our PAX East experiences. We would love to hear from you guys as well. How did PAX East go for you? Any surprises? Unforeseen challenges? Cool stories? Is there anything else you would like to hear us discuss?
I'd love to hear a discussion on the 'pintrader' website. It seems to be a fairly polarising topic and I'm sure there's some interesting thoughts the podcast team could share.

We had planned on that, although not for this episode. Because East just happened, the announcement of South, and the upcoming (4 months!!) Prime, a PAX-centric episode seems like a good idea.
Another reason to hold off was to quietly observe this, and see where it went. News broke quicker than we thought. So it's likely to come up.
- How terrible the Leeroy execution was
- How Stingy Sony was with the KI pins
- How easy it was to buy/trade extra D&D pins from surrounding attendees
We are planning on having the Pin Traders site owner on at some point, just not this episode. Basically it will be when we can find a time. Getting just the four of us together is hard enough. The next episode was already planned as our PAX East wrap up before the news broke about the site.
Yup, and in the meantime, if you have any questions you'd like to have answered on the podcast, specifically concerning thepintrader, I encourage you to send your suggestions to the Podcast team.

That would be my craptop. I am ordering an actual mic on Friday. If that doesn't work I will build a new system from scratch. I listened to this ep and I sound like I am at the bottom of a well.
Hmmm I thought you were quite audible in this one Pedro, certainly better than ep1 anyway. But yeah a better mic certainly won't hurt!
As for length, since they're monthly, I think it's perfectly fine. Listen to it in a few sittings, personally I just have it on while I work or while generally on the web. Heck lately I've found podcasts to go really well while playing Hearthstone. Definitely makes an opponent taking really long turns a little easier.
not sure if thats 3.5 DLC's out of 5 or 3.5 Pedro's out of 5
but yes, good episode, i didnt mind the length, had it playing while doing other stuff, so it was fine for me, would have just listened to it in two sittings otherwise.
Liked hearing the PAX stories, and your take on the Pintraders website, interested to hear the interview in next episode. Not that it has to be said, im sure you will give him a fair go to explain himself, but I wouldnt just accuse him of money-grabbing or whatever, I think we (him and the community) can find an agreement somewhere or even work together to make sure prices stay reasonable,

I think the value ratio of Pedro's to DLCs isn't in my favour.
My view on the PinTraders site is that whilst prices are in fluctuation, it is too soon for this kind of thing. Much as with any regulation, those who are attempting to set value shouldn't be making profit from that same value. Other than that, no problem with a site selling Merch, second hand or otherwise.

I don't think the problem is someone trying to sell them, good for them. I think the problem is no one else is setting a value. I don't think this is a huge problem, it will all evolve over time, just in this case a seller came along before someone to set the value. I suspect sellers came first when magic cards and baseball cards and other collectibles came out as well. Hard to set a value until you see what sells at what.
Yes sellers came first. I meant to mention this on the cast but we got sidetracked. The price guides worked by getting data from sellers around the country. Now a day's you can just keep track on eBay to find out the current price of an item.
I don't believe the pin trader is trying to set prices, just sell the pins.
Oh shit. We forgot to mention that there is a competition in this episode. A chance to win a D&D Pin! Keep your ears open.
The email address for this is pinnypalscontest@gmail.com, in case it wasn't clear. Details on which pin is up for grabs and what you need to do to get it are at the tail end of episode 4.
We will be recording episode 5 this Friday. I am please to officially announce that our special guest will be @shadowscars22 discussing his Pin Trader site. If you guys have any questions you would like us to ask please send them our way or post them here.
shadowscars22, your website seems to have the momentum of a runaway freight train. Why are you so popular?
Ah, a tough but fair question, Lisa.
on topic though...You guys will probably cover this anyway, but I would like to hear how he is going about setting the prices. Is he setting them himself at prices he thinks are fair/profitable? Is he looking at eBay sales history?

I'd be curious when Shadowscars first got started in this, and if they have run similar sites for other kinds of collectibles?
Episode 5...is alive! Featuring our in depth interview with @shadowscars22 answering all of your and our questions about his site. We would love any feedback.

Also I like out-takes at the end of podcasts, but maybe not such a long one at the end of an already long episode.

Malfunction. Need input.
*note* I'm carrying on the movie quotes, not saying the podcast is broken. Realized that could be confusing for youngsters.
