Can anyone give me a recommendation on how I should level my gatherers vs. crafters? I was thinking of leveling all my gatherers to 50 first, selling my NQ mats and keeping my HQ mats. Is there a better / more effective way?
edit - anyone think we might see another type of gatherer or crafter in the expansion?
Crafters are best if you get everyone to 15 and then there are certain cross-class skills that are better than others. I think you want 50 CRP, 50 WVR and 37(?) CUL for their cross class skills the most. The rest are good but those are the primary ones to start with. If you know a crafter with the patience to help they could craft you HQ items for levee turnins that you could use to easily level your crafting classes as well. I'd auto-synthesis them using vendor mats to 15 for each class though. This is fairly cheap and gets you a good basis for your skills.
Gathering sucked when I did it. I believe levees are actually worth using on gatherers now. Turning in gathering/crafting items to your Grand Company gets you a good amount of seals and experience as well. I only have Miner and Botany at 50 so can't speak to Fishing at all.

I feel like I'm missing something with the Ixali dailies. I do 6 a day and it doesn't feel like that much progress on my 46 WVR. Am I missing something there or is it just not as beneficial at higher levels?

The others are all in the mid 20s as I didn't know which cross-class skills were awesome when I started. If you're following my advice you'll have to find someone else for CRP and WVR. I know the triple turn-in levees used to be the most exp/gil per turn-in, but now I think I read that the delivery ones are better experience?

I need a good picture of the GHOSTS guild for this Saturday. I really would need it in within 24 hours or so of me posting this... timezone differences ya know.
My goal is to print out a good guild picture and bring it to the Tokyo Game Show this weekend and hopefully get Yoshi-P to sign it. My friend said he was at the SE booth last year and met him.

I would be nice if someone with photoshop skills could maybe put <Ghost in the Linkshell> on it, or some appropriate title. Maybe including the server name too.
Or if you guys have a better more up to date guild picture that would be great. I will print out what I can on photo paper, more than one is fine probably. Then I can ship them to Sion and he can do what he wants with them.... I think he deserves one of course. I'll scan it as well and everyone can see it and get a digital copy of course.
THIS IS NOT a 100% guarantee obviously, if no one is at the booth that actually works on FFXIV then I wont bother asking to get anything signed. And who knows, maybe they don't sign stuff anyway. Its worth a shot though.
Of course I'll snap some pictures of the SE booth and whatever FFXIV thing they have there, at least to make others jealous and say "SUCK IT NERDS". ... j/k

Not sure, I'll probably be home around 5pm pst today so I'll start drumming up interest and seeing if I can nail down a time later than that to get everyone together.
If people have a good idea for a good backdrop to take the picture against let me know. I was thinking we could do it out near revenant's toll since it's been upgraded a bit more, or possibly at the FC house (although that may be a bit cramped!)

You do an excellent job with the female characters though delph. I saw you in a dungeon and thought, "wow, that cat looks as sharp as Delph's screenshots". And then looked at the name, "wow, she even has the same name . . . oh."

I've finally finished my ST tanking set, and am thinking I should focus on getting my novus next. I'm at 21 of 75 so far, but it's been a slog. What's the best way to get alexandrites these days, outside of expert roulette? Just do hunts for myth for myth maps and buy alexandrites with seals?
Here's one I took while in first person out in front of everyone, bit early and missing some people though. None of mine really turned out all that great really.
About half from straight "grinding," half from doing stuff I'd do anyway (SCoB, roulettes, ST, PvP, maps, etc)....
Grinding is so much better than Brayflox speed runs too: Every two hours the bonus switches, groups split up to see which has the new bonus, spam info out to Linkshells/forums/bluegartr/reddit, regroup and spam run it. Pugging we've met a ton of awesome people from our datacenter, snag the others farming from our server, make new friends to run stuff with later. In a full group we can screw around, especially in the last two hours of Gilgamesh.
And by the time you're ready to claw your eyes out, the window is up and you get to screw around in something new, yay!
Well 14 hours and I'll be on the train from Fussa to Tokyo.
Hope I'm lucky and Yoshida-san can sign the picture of you all.
They do have a Square-Enix swag store in their area there, so if he can't sign stuff... its probably because they have stuff to buy in their shop that has signatures or something.
So we shall see, the Japanese have the best customer service and manners in the world, so if he can't sign it then its due to some other reason.
Those look pretty alright, but that's about as far as I'd like for them to go down the "glowy" path. Which, I guess, makes sense, as they are bursting with soul energy.

In other news, finally hit CNJ 30. Not too long to go for Stoneskin now, and I'll have WHM stuff to help me to it.
But man, more than ever I think Conjurer needs Geomancer as a DPS job to go on the other side of White Mage.
