On Hawken - do folks generally go keyboard/mouse or is it playable with a 360 controller?
I'd go KBAM. There are a lot of functions (moving, firing primary and secondary weapons, boosting, special abilities, activating items in 1-3 different slots, repairing, zooming, and interacting with things) so even if you find a way to map them all to a controller it would probably end up being a fairly complicated affair.
Also, anyone who wants to play HAWKEN tonight, don't forget to add SmokeStacks to your friend's list (in-game, not just on Steam), and since VOIP is still iffy we'll be using the PA TeamSpeak server for voice chat. Also, if it's your first time you'll want to fire it up before the game starts because you have to do a short tutorial before the game lets you play online.
HAWKEN gives you a free mech to start with, but there are also always three additional fully kitted out mechs that you can "test drive", so even if it's your first time playing you'll have four different mechs to choose from.

Picked up Bastion for $3.75, the reviews give it super high praise so this was probably a bargain. Good things come to those who fall ridiculously far behind game releases.

It's a beautifully animated Metroidvania style game with the backgrounds lush, jungle style things but the foreground and characters are mostly silhouettes that glow in particular colors. You can flip your character's color to be more/less effective against enemies or to have their bullets do no damage and there are platforms that are only usable or only start moving if you are a particular color. It's stunningly good looking in motion and a bunch of fun.

In other news, Divinity might in fact be too long. I'm about ready to wrap things up, but it looks like I have most of a major map and possibly more after that to go. 60+ hours is a lot to invest in a single playthrough of a SP game for me these days. (I guess things would go faster if I didn't loot absolutely every single item that I find, and then have to spend time finding merchants who actuallly have enough gold left to take things off my hands. Maybe I'll see about crafting a negative barter item to speed things up. )
It's pretty damn good, though. And pretty. There some great vistas in the game, and the distance blurring (which only appears at certain times when you really have a view) is incredibly well done and immersive.

STEAM: I downloaded Hawken and hope I can get in some time before tonight's festivities if I don't get caught up getting my friend hooked on Diablo III, Castle Crashers and/or Speed Runners. I'm also downloading Marvel Heroes 2k15 because another friend refuses to play D3 seasons, but has put in a ridiculous amount of hours to MH2k15.

As a bit of counterpoint, I enjoyed RE:Rev more than most of the modern RE games. The story is rubbish of course, but it had a better balance of action and non-linear exploration, which is something I've been looking for since RE4: still with the wider moveset and environmental interaction, but with gameplay less focused on forcing you to kill dozens of enemies in every room in order to proceed. The enemy designs are mostly rather dull, but there were a few moments of genuine tension and a couple clever twists.
So, it looks like I won't be able to make the Hawken evening tonight; have a 3-year-old's birthday party to do final prep for and some in-laws to pick up at the airport.
ReRev would've been a good game had it had the patience to take place just on the ship. But no, we had to have random jumps to flashbacks, characters with very little bearing on the plot (I get that Chris is Jill's partner, but he does nothing in this really), and also features probably the worst playable character duo in the franchise's run.

Yeah I kind of took a break from it for a bit. We're probably in roughly the same spot now. Although I have almost wrapped up things in the town on that 3rd major map, there's still at least one more full size dungeon to go if not more. I may be running into some trouble with my casters being a bit too wet tissue paper. The longer fights can be tough keeping them out of the line of fire.

Also started up Wolfenstein, played through all of Broken Sword 5. All of the main storyline in Naruto Etc Etc Full Burst. Year Walk.
Wrapped up the main storyline stuff in Naruto Full Burst last night actually. Stayed up a lot later than I'd intended because I hit a stretch in the game where there hadn't been a save point for like an hour and didn't want to go backwards or leave it on pause for a day. So just powered through to the end. Looks like there's a bunch of stuff you can still do after the credits roll. That was a fun time. I am pretty bad at your Street Fighters and Mortal Kombats but still get the hankering for a fighting game from time to time. Naruto hits that mashy, I kind of know what I'm doing and things are happening sweet spot for me. It's pretty easy most of the time, although the occassional fight would be oddly difficult. I knew enough original Naruto plot to get the gist of it, but it's also information outdated enough that there's a lot of question marks. I had a good time. I also picked up Revolution which I haven't cracked open yet. Full Burst may have been plenty though. It sounds like Revolution doesn't have the same long form single player storyline (there simply wouldn't have been that much manga/anime material produced in the time frame between them).
Also played a smidge of The Mysterious Cities of Gold. Totally an ipad style puzzle game. Pretty simplistic. But also a weird shot of nostalgia for a cartoon when I was a kid that you only remember slightly. I don't know if they had a sequel series at some point and they chopped bits of animation from that, or if the bits of animation are all they managed to produce in an attempt to create a new series. Got into some more Pinball FX. I quite like the Walking Dead table. I need to spend some more time with Deadpool and Guardians. The weird prologue in the Guardians table is a bit irritating.
I also took a short peek at State of Decay, but I think I just wasn't in the right mood for it.
Will Outland use UPlay? Cause ya know, Ubisoft....
I gotta be honest - I'm not seeing the reason for the continued UPlay hatred.
It's in Assassin's Creed: Black Flag, and it's completely unobtrusive. It starts up when the game launches, and then goes away, and just tracks some achievement points (which you can spend to unlock visual customization stuff).
When it started, and it was its own form of always-online DRM? Yeah, that sucked. But they've stopped doing that, as near as I can tell.

Stayed up a lot later than I'd intended because I hit a stretch in the game where there hadn't been a save point for like an hour and didn't want to go backwards or leave it on pause for a day. So just powered through to the end. Looks like there's a bunch of stuff you can still do after the credits roll. That was a fun time. I am pretty bad at your Street Fighters and Mortal Kombats but still get the hankering for a fighting game from time to time. Naruto hits that mashy, I kind of know what I'm doing and things are happening sweet spot for me. It's pretty easy most of the time, although the occassional fight would be oddly difficult. I knew enough original Naruto plot to get the gist of it, but it's also information outdated enough that there's a lot of question marks. I had a good time. I also picked up Revolution which I haven't cracked open yet. Full Burst may have been plenty though. It sounds like Revolution doesn't have the same long form single player storyline (there simply wouldn't have been that much manga/anime material produced in the time frame between them).
Also played a smidge of The Mysterious Cities of Gold. Totally an ipad style puzzle game. Pretty simplistic. But also a weird shot of nostalgia for a cartoon when I was a kid that you only remember slightly. I don't know if they had a sequel series at some point and they chopped bits of animation from that, or if the bits of animation are all they managed to produce in an attempt to create a new series. Got into some more Pinball FX. I quite like the Walking Dead table. I need to spend some more time with Deadpool and Guardians. The weird prologue in the Guardians table is a bit irritating.
I also took a short peek at State of Decay, but I think I just wasn't in the right mood for it.
I gotta be honest - I'm not seeing the reason for the continued UPlay hatred.
It's in Assassin's Creed: Black Flag, and it's completely unobtrusive. It starts up when the game launches, and then goes away, and just tracks some achievement points (which you can spend to unlock visual customization stuff).
When it started, and it was its own form of always-online DRM? Yeah, that sucked. But they've stopped doing that, as near as I can tell.
