True, but I would be a bit surprised to see a turn 1 invasion from him - a cruiser, carrier (I'll assume he will colonize with the other one) and a pair of fighters isn't much of an invasion force, especially compared to a carrier, a pair of hylar cruisers, and if he loses you get XRD. If anything, I would expect him to go after Sol over you - destroyer and carrier x2 is much weaker and a bigger expansion threat
I suppose he does have the +1 so his force is strictly better than yours, but victory odds are much, much lower vs you than Sol
Not to mention that if he goes after Sol he ends up with two red sectors blocking Jol'Nar off - minimum 2 moves to get into that area, effectively giving him the right half. If he goes after you he ends up right in my face

If I were offered a TG now as bribe or offered for both parties to give me their first TG they receive from the agreement later, I would approve the apparently not proposed deal. If not, I'll close negotiations.

I at least don't want to pay for a 1 TG deal since that would mean I'd not make a profit until several turns later, where the situation might already have changed anyway.

It's up to you- regardless you wouldn't make a profit until next turn (just because of how trade works), and in my second scenario you would transfer the next turn's profit to me, and then be able to take advantage of it the following and subsequent turns. This way the best case scenario is that you make this agreement next turn and see benefit from it the following turn, which is what I was offering anyway. Worst case is you have to pay a bribe to make it next turn, or you don't get the benefit at all.
