if i do pick up chroma squad, i think i'm gonna hafta call it Sentai Maishu
there's the obvious dumb english pun, but also 'maishu' means 'every week' or 'weekly' in japanese
i'm so proud of myself for coming up with this awful, awful name
The Japanese pun on a completely different level than us English speakers.
Like that manga series that retells the Vietnam war using different animals to represent different nationalities. In the manga, Americans soldiers are all represented by rabbits. Why? Well, because they're USA GI's. And the Japanese word for rabbit is usagi.
Also horrifying because why make a cutsy retelling of a incredibly traumatic conflict
It's not cutesy? It's not like it's a retelling of the entire war from beginning to end, but it's definitely an examination of it, especially of Japan's role in facilitating American operations.
On some deep fundamental level I don't understand people who want a new Rare-style 3D Platformer
It is a totally alien concept to me
there are people for whom that kind of game was a defining part of their childhood, just as NES platformers were for the people who threw money at shovel knight and mighty no. 9
it's the same reason I keep raving about freedom planet, it's the sort of game I grew up with and it just wasn't being made anymore until kickstarter showed up

You can't compete with that.
Oh absolutely
I'll never be on their level, but one of my favorite things about learning Japanese has been learning how to make up terrible cross-lingual puns that are only really funny to bilingual speakers
Some of these puzzles in DK64 man...
Press Z on this switch to go invisible, banana appears right next to you for no reason.
Here's 4 numbered switches, hit them in order, here's a banana.

One of the things he chopped up was his own nose!
You deserve to go to jail for this

That's a pretty great pun
It's just
Dang man, it's just so good

In America it's called "Apocalypse Meow" because printing "Shit" on the cover of a book is a difficult sell.

the thing I find funny is that the minimum reward (for five pounds) is your name in the special thanks in the game's credits
and the game already has more than twenty thousand backers
and there's still forty-five days to go
the credits may very well end up being longer than the game
That would be waaaaay too many collectib- oh right, ex-Rare people nevermind
As a little kid, giving me things to collect was my drugs
Spyro 100% first three games no problem, gotta collect everything
It is a totally alien concept to me

Or I guess I should say "funny"
Rare collectathons are not actually very different from like
Mario galaxy
The difference is mostly perception
You go into a world, find a thing, go into another part of the same world, find another thing
And there are fun challenges along the way
Its not really that weird!
and by more, I mean any

I am absolutely behind this Kickstarter, and it's fantastic to see they've already hit all their stretch goals by the first day.
They're gonna be hard pressed to come up with goals that we can't meet at this point.
It's lovely.
They can just be more comfortable making the game they're gonna make instead of overextending

John Ham, Zay, Huntera, and Bluedude are also here to watch the Starlight Rangers kick some butt.
Well okay not quite yet, but it's getting late over here. They'll have hit 1 million pounds by tomorrow, no doubt.
Just remembered this existed
