Does the Dog Die? is pretty much the only site I need to tell me if a movie will be good or not.

Yeah, I would have never seen Where the Red Fern grows without it.

They showed this movie to us in middle school... I bawled so hard.

you really only get one chance to not fuck it up for me in a movie

it takes a lot to gain my good will back when you do

    You watch fucking garbage
    constantly

    okay a few things:

    1. to say that all i watch is garbage is completely incorrect and it's incredibly tired. dogg, i seen more great films that most people have seen films. period. in any given year. and dogs that actually listen to my recommendations are almost never disappointed.
    2. fucking it up has nothing to do with overall quality, or quality in general: just the reaction to a singular moment in the film
    3. i fail to see how my personal taste has anything to do with the statement i made?

I hate that he's correct here.

The fuck do dogs know about movies

They know when a dog's in the movie.

well, they love dogs and have one and therefore it is painful to see one die in a film

My love of the fleshy humans makes it hard to watch any movie ever.

Mystery, Drama, Action, Comedy, Romance, Musical, Whatever, the genre doesn't matter. They just won't stop killing the little fella's.

dogs are associated with unconditional love in many Western cultures

like, cats are conniving/picky/sneaky but dogs? dogs are LOVING

some are dumb, some are smart, some are big, some are small, ALL ARE LOVING

they can't help themselves, they love you no matter what, they're so INNOCENT

so watching one die in any context - whether you own a dog yourself or not - is actually really difficult for some people to process

How people are reacting to dog fates in film is how I now react to things after having a kid.

Movie where kids die spoilers (oops) ahead.
I noped the fuck out of The Witch real fuckin fast. I'll go back and finish it, but god damn. Under the Skin was extremely tough for me, also. I'm afraid to watch Room now.

just kind of a heads up

people can't make an educated choice to not click on the spoilers if you don't say what the spoilers are for

It's one of those things that I realize is just me

But I just don't get how people can feel so absolutely terrible about a dog getting hurt or killed in a film, but be fine with all sorts of violence or death when it happens to people in a film.

I personally judge animals in movies on the same merits that I do people

So yeah, if the dog is presented as a sympathetic and likable figure, it's gonna suck if he dies

But if not, I don't have some sort of automatic reaction in the dog's defense

I've spent my whole life around dogs, I've known some good dogs and some bad dogs, just as I have known good people and bad people

    Ain't no difference

Dunno what to tell you. I'm talking about kids dying in movies. I think that's a big enough warning sign not to click the spoiler if you don't want to know movies where kids die. Some people don't care about spoilers, most do. No big deal if no one continues the conversation.

Edit: and now I realize my edit to the previous post didn't save. I specifically wanted it to be labeled so there was no confusion.
