I actually found it quite fun, although I'd wouldn't recommend it as a normal mode since it puts too specific pressures on which warframes you pick.

I actually like it because of that, your approach to doing it is fairly different from other modes.
Yeah, several modes push you to take certain kinds of frames. Defense missions favor frames like Frost, Vauban, Nova, etc., whereas exterminate missions like frames like Ember, Equinox, Nezha, and whatever else can do lots of damage while continuing to move quickly through the level.
I like the new mission because it has several things going on at once, from escorting and/or healing the civvies, to keeping the med towers topped off on power, to coordinating the movement of the civs to point A and thence to their ship in a big group. I like that because it means there's several roles people can fill from CC to DPS to healing and support to logistics (staying behind to fill up the med towers). It's a little more interesting and involved than some other mission types. Obviously I wouldn't want it to be the only mission type I played, as I greatly enjoy variety in tilesets, enemies, and mission types, but I think it's a great addition to the mission type roster and I hope they integrate it into the base game after the operation is over.
I think the event is kind of nifty in some ways because it actually makes support warframes have more of a purpose. Like, Curative Undertow Hydroid is not a thing I thought I would ever be using, but here I am.

The #1 best thing about this operation is that it is exactly the sort of thing the lore says tenno are doing, helping out the people that just want no part in the overall struggle.
It was that somehow, from within the derelict-horror, they had learned a way to see inside an ugly, broken thing... And take away its pain.

Like me using Equinox for mend and not maim!
Also, I don't care if it's useful or not, but I love her Metamorphosis augment, Duality. Who do I trust the most to help kill badmans? Myself!

Limbo is real weird, and that rework can happen any time now. Seems like most of his powers are "make it harder to actually kill the enemy", though rift walk has been saving my bacon quite a bit.

My Limbo right now is a Rift Walk Assassin. Rift Walk, walk to a thing that needs murdering, Banish it, then double tap with the Tigris Prime. Poof. I like to use that in Sortie defense: Banish the Operative, then work on assassinating hard targets while the team works on the crowds. It's not the best, but it's relatively safe and workable.
On the event, what's a good run end up at? My first pug on mission three went to 100 rescues, but I feel like it could have gone longer.

With an organized team that has a plan and the right frames...you could probably get to 150 hostages withut major problems.
With a decent (not great) pug, 50-70.
With the trash I've been teamed up with the last day, 30-ish.

Nearly every pug I've been in has gotten 80-90 per mission. Once a group went to 157; the last one I did, actually. Those guys were great, there was me playing as a trin, another trin, a limbo, and an ember. The other trin and I split up and each took a different point and the limbo and ember would swap out which points they went to so sometimes I'd get some WoF DPS and sometimes I'd get my civs banished so I could concentrate on just staying alive without worrying about them. We finally left not because it was too hard, but because we were tired and we all had way more than enough points to finish the operation.

Warframe to me: I hope you like endo as I put some endo into your sortie rewards so you can endo while you endo
We've got nothing but anasa sculptures and endo for sorties for a week and a half
Man, I need like... 40k of the damn stuff. I keep getting shit that's NOT it. Maybe 60k, I know Primed Point Blank is 20k or so for the last rank by itself, then I've got a bunch of other mods sitting at R9...
I like pooping turrets everywhere! I hate running out of ammo, and my kavat isn't very good at being an ammo mutation, seems like.
Thinking the mod for +reserve is going to be a must. Or mutation, not sure.
I don't recall ever running out of ammo for it. I am at work and I don't remember what mods I'm currently using for it, but I'll screenshot and post it once I get home later this morning.
edit: though if you're pooping out turrets everywhere that might be why you're running out of ammo, since it uses the entire 75 round mag. Try slowing down with the turret-pooping maybe. :P

The turrets taking 75 ammo per may indeed be part of the problem, yes. Maybe.
Edit: But multishot affects turret count, and the turrets work with both punchthrough AND Charm, and it's so many red numbers...

Holy crap DE support is terrible - [DE]Tim may well fail the Turing test
The latest response was to ask me to run the warframe log collector and post the details of my connection to the internet as per whereismyip.com. This was the first response to the case. I opened the thread by providing that information and attaching the logs exactly as per the instructions provided in the prematurely closed case to which the new one refers.
