Look I'm no cancer doctorist but I'm pretty sure Walt in an experimental/non-standard cancer treatment of a high-cost specialist means he probably won't have the time or energy to become a drug lord. Some of those treatment plans are physically exhausting.
Man if you think breaking bad was about Walt not being able to pay for health insurance, I guess I could see why you wouldn't like it.
nobody has said that
even once
or even close to it
The comic pretty heavily implies that the show ends if Walt gets someone to pay for his health costs.
Which explicitly happens in the show and then the show doesn't end? so.....
only because the particular someone paying for it mattered, as you well know.
The comic is saying, if walt had gone to the doctor, and the doctor had said "your insurance will cover this" there wouldn't be that much plot happening because that was the catalyst
but
the comic is making a joke not saying that the creator didn't like it
to be fair people in real life rarely have consistent characterization either
But you are a pink cow 24/7.....right?

I would liken the 'not human reaction' thing to why I don't love Meet The Parents (as one example)... it can make me laugh but I can't comprehend the constant lying in these situations.
but I don't feel it applies to breaking bad, which was a critically acclaimed and massively watched show for a reason imo. I thought it was pretty damn good.
TV characters are often fundamentally bad at communicating like functioning adults in a way that is both infuriating and kind of gross.
Like, it actually really bothers me how often that is used as the central point of conflict or drama in television, that these people can't fucking talk like grown ups. It would be fine on characters who are otherwise characterized as man-children or something but it's just portrayed as normal and it's like ugh
No.

lemme pick up a condo or something
Agreed, but never gonna happen.
it happened in 2008
no lessons were learned
it'll happen again, the question is just when
I don't recall us getting hit anywhere near as bad as the rest of the country, because the local giants like MS, Amazon, etc kept right on going, and the success and expansion of the tech sector is a primary driver of the constant price climb. Any significant crash is going to come at the cost of a tech-sector crash a la 2001, and guys like you and I will be highly likely to find ourselves unemployed in that scenario.

Off the top of my head, basically everything to do with Skylar, who essentially existed to be contrary and generate conflict regardless of whether or not it made internal sense for her to be opposed or upset by something.

Luckily I am not in the tech sector anymore, just IT. So unless the crash is from massively automating IT I'm not too worried.

I know. I've seen the show too. It's like everything interesting about it. And, like, why it's good. The simple premise "Man makes meth because he needs money" works, but this wasn't a movie, it's long, and "man becomes drug lord because he needs money" would very quickly fall apart.
But the money was still the catalyst that brought meth into at all, at the start
Because people don't go from 40 year crisis to meth without a damn pressing reason, without the need for money at the start, all the rest wouldn't happened. He'd... probably not deal with his dissatisfaction by becoming a drug lord :P

Seattle area had foreclosures, but we were no where near as bad as other areas of the country. We recovered faster, the big issue you have right now is inventory is really terrible in any place people want to live, and Sellers as usual have upped the fucking dickery on buyers requesting blood costs to even submit offers.
I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.
I'm not super familiar with what's actually going on with the dwindling water supply grape refers to
but I thought shower/tap water was on an essentially closed loop and using an extra gallon to shower doesn't really waste anything other than the resources to clean it and send it back through the system
I randomly worked at the ariz water resources dept in college
arizona is fucking itself hard because its water usage outstrips its water supply
so in order to meet need, folks pump groundwater, which is just fine in limited cases
but if you just drain that shit dry to feed your golf courses and whatnot, as az does, natural replenishment cannot keep up and the aquifers compact under their own weight which means they won't perform the filtering function they used to (a bad thing long term because now your groundwater is not a renewable resource) and it also has short term impacts like subsidence where you get giant holes in the ground or splits as the earth settles
basically our desert lands are not structured to support all the people who live in them (az, nv, parts of calif)
I'm sure other states have different water issues but those are the ones I know about @Sir Landshark
oh man they should make alternate reality breaking bad where walt doesn't have cancer at all and instead of meth he just buys a leather jacket and a motorcycle and cheats on skyler with a cocktail waitress and has an incredibly mundane 40 year crisis
Does Flash needing a pep-talk from someone different in each episode count as bad? It's pretty much in-character and his most predictable trait.
I hate the constant need for pep-talks less than him forgetting how to use superspeed in combat on a weekly basis. His go-to battle plan is run in circles doing nothing while the team plays rock-paper-scissors to figure out who gets to remind Flash he is a hero and has a lot of superspeed combat tactics available to him.

I still find it weird how nearly all of breaking bad takes place over the course of a year
So much happens that it feels like it should be longer
oh man they should make alternate reality breaking bad where walt doesn't have cancer at all and instead of meth he just buys a leather jacket and a motorcycle and cheats on skyler with a cocktail waitress and has an incredibly mundane 40 year crisis
everyone in the show is horrible and I didn't want any of them to succeed so I stopped watching
Hot take: I think Breaking Bad actually sucks and is overhyped
This isn't me being a contrarian, this is I didn't watch the show when it was the hot shit on TV, I watched it after it was finished on Netflix, and I think watching it all in one go like that exposed it's flaws big time.
It was remarkable for people who were not used to seeing this kind of thing from network television, I guess? Like if the bar is low, it skips over it.
But the characterization is all over the fucking place. The people in it are unpleasant crazy people whose motivations make no fucking sense. Nobody behaves like humans.
Do not like.
You haven't met many people outside of your social circle, I take it.
Going back and forth between Zork I and Zelda Breath of the Wild is interesting. They were made like 40 years apart but feel fairly similar. They're both sprawling non-linear plot-lite fantasy adventures. They're both about slashing up monsters and solving puzzles and collecting treasure. They both have mute cypher protagonists that start out empty handed but quickly acquire weapons. They have RPG-ish non-RPG gameplay. They have a game map that you can more-or-less freely wander about in without much handholding. They both have retro-futuristic settings that echo the past but have interesting modern touches. They're both about the joy of discovering new places and new things. Etc.
The more things change the more they stay the same I guess.

Dunno whether being mid-Brexit will be good or bad for my refinance options next year.
It feels to me as though they've all got genuine motivations to be doing the things they're doing, even if they're bad reasons?
