I went back and added some minor shading / outlining to the white with a light grey. It's subtle, but I do like it more now.

Aside from some of us old grognards, I'm not sure what proportion of the current audience the underhive would resonate with. I still hope that Forgeworld does a "proper" new edition of Necromunda, but Necro-lite with 40k factions could be a good bit of fun.
It's more the rules.
How do you balance a squad of scouts with 10 gangers? One side hits on 5's, wears no armour at all and dies from tripping over a rock. The other are highly trained superhumans that can punch through torsos and wear light power armour. How does that game work? Necomunda worked because everyone started on the same level - shit. The game is more about who fails less, not who was better. It was a place to play games with parts of the 40k universe that didn't fit into a war game. Adding in factions that are super-human, trained/skilled, or have access to reliable equipment is a quick way to make the game not fun (see arbites, redemptionists, spyers, etc)
Necro has been out for decades and no one can get Arbites to work. I don't have faith GW figured out how to balance Delaques, Orks, Marines and Cawdor against eachother in the same game. That is unless they aren't in the same game, then they avoid the problem by keeping factions close in power level and not mixing chuds with demi-gods.
I don't expect there to be any overlap at all. Theres a list of "factions" going around and it's all 40k squads, Eldar Dire Avengers, Scouts, Orcs, Dark Eldar Wytches etc. I imagine it will be a Necro-inspired skirmish game with progression using the main line 40k factions.
And hopefully we'll get sexy new gang kits from Forgeworld in the future.

For AoS podcasts there's Facehammer, Bad Dice Podcast, and Heelanhammer. All 3 of them are tournament folks in the UK who have played a large part in AoS' success and they are the guys GW called in to playtest the General's Handbook.
As far as 40k I have no idea. If anyone knows some good ones I'd appreciate knowing as well.
The Crate and Crowbar guys just launched a miniature centric podcast (not specifically warhammer/40k, but they do talk a lot about AOS the first episode). There's just the one episode so far. They're both just getting back into miniatures and wargaming (since giving it up as british teenagers), so its a nice point of view. Coming from video game journalism, they have pretty thoughtful conversations about things surrounding the hobby and why it's interesting, rather than just squabbling over new rules releases (which is my problem with most 40k podcasts).

'The Overlords' & 'The Independent Characters' are both fantastic 40K podcasts because the casters are all about sharing their love of the hobby, and listening to them always gets me hyped to get back to painting and building. The latter also used to run a hobby progress challenge on their forums (I think it might be over now, just due to what it took to manage it) where you had monthly goals for getting stuff painted, and got pointless (but shiny!) points for meeting them.
'The Long War,' is another great one, although they're have a greater focus on actual play, rules, and competition and is where I got introduced to the term 'super-friends death star.' They're also pretty cool guys though, who are also pretty open in their love of the hobby.
I keep hearing people say good things about 'Life After the Cover Save,' but I found it pretty dull with how little they seemed to end up talking about actual 40K and just way too much dick focus (one interview ended with them asking what kind of dicks the guy liked, and I was just like, 'yup. those were words that just entered my ears.' There are a couple others I've heard good things about but haven't followed up on. The Forgefathers is one that is either 30K centric, or BL focused, but I can't remember which.

As of 3 May, online retailers (at least in the US) will once again be allowed to sell GW products via an online shopping cart.

Pretty much, yeah! It's all about appearances. A clever buyer will find a way anyway. Personally I don't buy GW stuff at less than 25% discount :razz:
I buy paint and dice and other misc stuff at full price from my FLGS because it's more convenient than waiting for shipping (plus I like to halfass pay where I play), but when it comes to larger kits I'm going to have to start ordering online because GW prices for a lot of the new kits are out of my comfort zone.
Where do you go to get 25% off? Best I've been able to find in the states is 20%

Since the extra 10% wasn't advertised as part of the merchandise cost, it wouldn't be counted under that rule.

I know it's not the fashionable thing to do but anymore I buy all my GW stuff at my local GW store. Even if it's something he doesn't have in stock I do order-to-store from the kiosk rather than go to another store.
It's my way of telling GW that I approve of what they've been doing.
Those veteran gamers out there will be keen to learn that much of the ruleset is based off of the classic Necromunda game, including some in-between game advancements and earning experience that can see your small recon-force grow to become an elite unit of honed killers.
... so if the rumour that the game doesn't use 40k stats at all was accurate, then 8th Edition might wind up being really fucking different.
Not sure I understand the cost values in that screenshot, though. Why does a Heavy cost 50 points less than a Hybrid despite having equal stats and more equipment options?

They're in AoS too. I would hope to see them in 8th rather than having a billion unit types with their own movement values that need to be remembered.
Yeah, the "simplification" introduced in 3rd edition didn't really work out. Especially when it comes to vehicles with all the combinations and exceptions.
Individual values are much easier to use and at the same time provide more granularity and futureproofing when you want to introduce new units.

The Ratskins still look good for what they are, which is less 80's than everything. I loved playing those guys.
