I can't believe so many people use one space. I had honestly never heard about it being acceptable until last year, at which point I dismissed it as bullshit. Maybe this is some kind of regional thing.
really? the entirety of the internet being one-space didn't ring any alarms?
I put it down to the internet being a cultural wasteland.
Regardless, two spaces is proper. Two spaces is what is learned in English Class, and it is what will rule the day, forever.
every single website on the internet is wrong?
To be fair, most browsers etc don't interpret two spaces, even if it is in the HTML.
But two spaces is stupid. I mean, it's a relic of the typewriter era. A relic.

Most computer code, as far as I am aware, is still written using fixed-width fonts. There a good and sound best practice reasons behind this. There is every reason to suppose that this practice will continue in the most cutting edge of modern technologies. Fixed-width font is hardly 'a relic'.
Same here, to the point where I'll type stuff up in Notepad and paste it into Word when I need to format it.

Whatever. I use it daily. I have to write clear and concise explanations and summaries of what the logical code is doing. I am obligated to format it and present it in such a fashion that anyone who might come along afterwards might be able to spend the least amount of effort trying to read what I've written and instead understand what I've written.

Double spacing is what I use.
There's no reason not to use it elsewhere.
Yes there IS a reason in that most other text is not monospaced and is designed to avoid having to do this very thing.

So you want me to learn two different styles of typing and the ability to switch between them depending on context?
Yeah, sorry, I'm not going to inconvenience myself just to save you ... wait, what is it I'm saving you exactly?
the liberal media taught me to start one spacing. now i recognize it as the one true path.

No, I'm saying that typing - well, touch typing - is a skill of habit, and that actually conceptually changing deep-ingrained habits actually requires significant amounts of effort and conscious thought. The cost to me far outweighs any perceived benefit, to me, to you, or your imaginary 'standards'.
