Yeah, I can verify that it was, indeed, the "0.0 blocks from event" feature that got me. Can't beat it for convenience.
PAX Prime / PAX Dev 2014
PAX Prime 2013
PAX Prime 2009
That's the one with a thingy that actually connects to the convention center. Might not be open during PAX but even if it's not walking across the street shouldn't be too much effort.
I KISS YOU!
There is NO WIRLESS INTERNET in the rooms.
There is a wired Internet connection in each room that costs $10 a day. It sounds like the cable is already in the room.
The TVs are of the plasma variety, they are new, you can connect a game console to them, and the concierge does not know how large they are.

Also, do you know if the hotel offers connecting rooms? If so, will they sellout fast?
Precisely :^: and it's not too horrendously expensive...
The Best in Terms of Pants on JCCC3
The Lennox is also right there. It's less than a 5 minute walk if you casually stroll and stop in the Lindt store along the way.
I need 722 dollars for PAX without spending money. Probably a thousand with.
Did you come up with the $722 in 2 days?
I KISS YOU!
3 nights @ hotel
amtrak roundtrip (Penn Station to Back Bay)
3 day PAX early bird pass
comes to $722.
OH and by the way, click the POI map in my sig. There's some non-PAX affiliated lodging listed on there, including hotels, guest houses, and hostels, that are cheaper and still near enough to walk to the Hynes Center.
I KISS YOU!

0.0 miles sounds nice, but the lack of free wi-fi is distressing.
but in the middle of march in boston, sound cold...

Anybody traveling from NY/NJ
boltbus is your best friend :
https://www.boltbus.com/default.aspx
20 dollar round trip ny <--> bos if you reserve ahead of time.
20 dollars one way if you go on standby (show up an hour early to get first on the list!)
if you sign up for an account, every 5 trips you take you get one free.
FREE WIFI
Comfy leather seats.
I enjoy bolt bus. they're cheaper/better than greyhound.

If you book at the Sheraton and you only specify a TWO person room, they give you the option of requesting a king bed or two doubles. However, the fine print warns that your request may not be accepted. If you are booking a room for two and plan to have more (4-8), YOU MAY ONLY GET ONE BED. Figure out ahead of time who gets dibs on that bed.
The urge to mock you is so very very strong.
I don't want to piss Moe off though so I will just say this.
No person, entity or organization will force you to get a hotel room in order to attend PAX because that would be incredibly crazy and extremely ridiculous.

That is all.
Will be traveling from NYC - via Chinatown bus. $15 !!!
suck it Amtrak; your high fares and slow speed ain't got nothing on the chinese.
1) I keep reading things that imply that you can basically show up as early as you like on the day of your reservation, and the hotel will stash your stuff somewhere until your official Check-in time. True?
2) If check-out time on Sunday is @ Noon (for example) and everybody seems to be getting rooms Thurs-Sun, where do you keep all your stuff after that until your flight home? The same Hotel-Stuff-Stashy place?
I'm willing to pay for Monday as well if necessary, but not if I don't have to.
3) In this Post-9/11 era, can I book a room for double occupancy without having a firm name for the second person? Since Single and Double cost the same at the Sheraton, I figure get the double, and probably something will work out between now and then.
Until now, I've never done anything like this for lots of reasons that all seem stupid now, so I want to make sure my first PAX is as awesome as possible. Any advice would be welcome. I'm not rich, but I've pretty much got the money for the flight and hotel already, so the next six months I can be saving up for schwag. :rotate:
You have to call and ask the hotel.
Agree with with VOC that you should call the hotel for firm answers, but here is what I've seen in the past:
1. Most hotels will allow a bag check if you arrive early. There could be a fee.
2. Most hotels will allow a bag check if you are checking out before you are leaving the area. There could be a fee.
3. There was a disclaimer about two double beds being guaranteed on the Sheraton site. I have never had a problem getting the correct beds, but I have never dealt with this hotel before.
4. There is no stupid question.
My advice is incredibly unofficial and the best answers will come from the hotel itself.

i live outside of Boston too, so i'll pay you a dollar to stay at your place and you pay me a dollar to stay at my place, make up some fancy names to make it sound elegant, and voila!

Terrorizing the Gaming Universe one post at a time...
This is something we should all take into consideration as I asked for something specific for PAX09 and didn't get it. Granted it wasn't a problem (asked for normal room with two double beds, ended up getting a junior suite).
Anyway, I won't book anything for a while because I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it yet (trying everything I can) but if I go it will be the Sheraton. Wired internet is fine, pools are awesome, and I like being in a building attached to the convention center and a mall. I'll be staying with my DVD crew as well so hopefully we can finally coordinate things. :P
Also, I'd like to make a suggestion if you're desperate for a good discount. Use Hotwire. I got a room for $93 bucks a night(4 nights) at the Sheraton. As long as you don't mind how many beds you have in the room, it's a great deal. If you've never used Hotwire, it's kind of guess/luck, but it's the only 3.5 star hotel in the convention center area. But yeah, still luck, so don't blame me if it doesn't work out for you as it did me. But you'll still be within a mile or so of the convention center no matter what.
Both Cambridge Hotels are near Lechmere on the green line which takes you to right to hynes convention center T stop. The Hyatt is in Medford Sq. so you'd have to take a cab to a train station, or directly to the hynes. closest T station is Wellington, but you'd have to switch to the green line after a few stops. probably a $7 cab ride to wellington, $15 to lechmere and $20 ish to the hynes. Not really sure where else to Recommend, only other advise i can give, Don't look at the Tage inn in Somerville, i used to work near there and it has a bad reputation for drugs and prostitutes, so unless that your thing. Holiday inn Boston/ Somerville, I've heard is overpriced, but i didnt check their price.
