Some dude named Penny Arcades made a fancomic about Dragon Rage

Dragon Age is coming out for PC and 360 on November 3rd, PS3 gets it on November 17th.
Anyway let us rap about Dragon Age and get excited for some Bioware PC RPG goodness. Failing that I am fully prepared to spend the next 100 pages talking about how much I love Baldur's Gate.

Has a Demo been announced? I'm likely to end up owning it anyway, what with Jen being a huge BioWare fan, but it took me months to even get around to playing Mass Effect. But Demo might be the difference between owning now and owning after Christmas.
And really, enough games have slipped to after Christmas that even that's looking a little risky.
I think I'll be infinitely more excited about this once I start getting to play around with the gameplay mechanics.
Really, watching trailers for most of BioWare's RPGs aren't all that exciting:
agreed
i mean it's not like i couldn't go for some olde stabbe actione, but there's no "hook" i've seen where it's like OH MAN MUST PLAY, beyond standard bioware good stuff: dialogue choices, custom characters, all that
i guess it's a bigger thing for baldur's gate fans et al

You don't like fantasy? or you have your suspicions about this setting in particular?
just not a swords and sorcery kinda guy
I prefer the future to the past
I like robots and space and lasers and things
fortunately if the story is good the setting won't matter much, and I have no reason to believe it won't be
I guess I'm the opposite. KotOR didn't excite me at all, although I had some interesting moments in Mass Effect; but I'm really looking forward to casting spells and hell dimensions again.
Giant bomb has this long as gameplay vid that gets me confused. Like its sorta gory and more darker fantasy but its still kinda soft with the battles and even though they are first level spells they are really really pitiful. Looks like the mage is hawking lugies.

Yes, I was disappointed the first time, but I have still played it 6 times total. It's short enough for a quick, fun run-through, and once you know the ending's a little rushed you can enjoy the first 3/4 of the game more
well you know once I got some of the better styles it got easier
but I ran into it like a brawler and got my ass kicked more than a few times
Blocking is about the furthest thing from necessary in Jade Empire imaginable. Dodge roll around and over people, use support styles, and fuck them up. Jade Empire is an embarrasingly easy and broken game. I still loved it though.
As for Dragon Age, I'm probably going to just get it for the 360 since it'll be at least a year or more until the modding community makes anything worth a damn. I do look forward to whatever Adam Smith (Dreamcatcher, Demon, Dark Waters) inevitably makes though
I'm excited for dragon age, but the trailers of the giant fight scenes between nations are probably going to be cut scenes...
There are no fights between Nations. The Kingdom of Ferelden is trying really hard to not get annihilated by the Blight, a periodic resurgence of unholy abominations called the Blightspawn who surge forth from underground in an unstoppable horde. You'll probably take part in those giant fights to some extent since you're a Grey Warden and that's your job.

I'm totally buying it for the 360
fuck the pc am I right
particularly the part where it's just repeated boob shots and developers talking about how every female character wants to jump your bones
Who are these dumbass Yanks who complain about American accents in their fantasy games
Have they any idea how obnoxiously dense "authentic" Medieval dialects would have been
but dude you can make your own custom modules and things on PC!
and download the ones that other people made

360 degrees of boobs
i'm trying
it might help if all of the characters weren't all slightly shiny
damn you, Bioware
When I was at Obelrin I was in the "early music" choir. Every fall we would do a regional mass with region-correct dialects.
Oh my fucking god the horror of Franco-Flemmish Latin.
I don't know why I want this game but I do.

oh janson, you realize that after this it's not long until Mass Effect 2 right
And really, enough games have slipped to after Christmas that even that's looking a little risky.
Tropico 3, Brutal Legend, Persona 4, Mass Effect 2
might have to put some off not because I'm short for cash but because I don't have the time to deal with all the awesome
man, I don't know
I am not wired for pc gaming
I cannot sit at a computer and play a game, even though I sit at a computer and post all the time
my computer could run this quite easily, but I just would not play it!
my god, this is brilliant
I just hope my system can run it decently
and that a demo is available at some point
A demo would certainly help me determine whether or not my PC is going to buckle under the strain
Also, exposure to the voice acting
hope I can tolerate the fantasy setting long enough to beat it

I was profoundly disappointed with that game
I thought it was pretty good
fucking hard though
blocking is super important
and I hate blocking

IE most of your followers were boring as shit, especially dawn sword or whatever, who was like a worse version of liara
what.
Thunder dragon or whatever support style.
Area attack
Strong attack.
Failing that.
Fast attack until they block
Dodge behind them
Strong attack.
Jade Empire was stupidly easy.
but I ran into it like a brawler and got my ass kicked more than a few times
Is it going to be like that? Anyone know? It'd be awesome rushing in with thousands of troops to hack and slash through all those enemies
I doubt the Antikythera mechanism has the ram for this
