i was just googling the error you're seeing, and what someone did was reset the bios, and it suddenly fixed the problem. don't know if it will work for you, but i don't think it could hurt. if you don't have jumpers to reset it then just take out the CMOS battery for a couple minutes.

Alright, gonna turn it off, take out the battery and come tell you guys how much i hope it works.
Also going to plug back in the HDD
What's the worst that can happen if the HDD is slave to the opti?

its just a retarded way to set things up. while you're waiting for the bios to reset, put the thing together properly.

Say you're burning something to CD/DVD from the hard drive
the 2 drives will fight for time and bandwith on the same cable/bus
it'll run slow and generally like crap as your computer pauses to swap large chunks to ram or worse, the page file

Unfortunately, his motherboard has one IDE connector and three SATA connectors. He should either throw that IDE HDD away and get an SATA one or buy an IDE to SATA adapter.
Really shouldn't have the optical and HDD on the same IDE at all, but if he's going to for the time being, it's probably better to have the HDD as the primary hardware on the IDE channel.
And if Bendery doesn't get it to work, he can always yank the optical drive out and smash Sock to death with it. Or Gafoto. Whoever posted that god-awful spider that will haunt my new year dreams.

the cmos battery is located between my sound card and my video card and i can't get it out as it is in a tight space and i don't want to pull the cards out.
The jumper goes on the two pins labled clr cmos right?

yeah normally the jumper should be hanging off just one pin, to clear you put it on both pins for like 30 seconds, then put it back on just 1 pin

yeah that basically sucks overall. If it has to be that way due to cash constraints, then yeah, HDD primary. it's used way more than the optical drive
Also, i don't turn the computer on with the jumper in or I do?
yeah you do. that's how that shit works.
cross your fingers and hope it doesn't blow up.
gonna go press the button then
just so you don't start crying...it isn't going to do anything with that jumper in there. power will come on but motherboard isn't going to do shit. just turn it back off after a couple seconds.
The guys on the new G&T splinter forum are trying to justify paedophilia
In all seriousness, much of what people call "pedophilia" isn't actually pedophilia. Any post-pubescent girl can be sexually desirable to a biologically, psychologically normal male--so even a thirty year old with a thirteen year old or something equally creepy isn't actually "pedophilia;" that's just the label we have chosen.
Real pedophilia is a lot less common, and is usually paired with sociopathy.
seriously dude, what's wrong with wanting to hook up with 7th grade girls?
hurry up bendery i want to go to bed and i don't want to leave you hanging
alright, it did reset, and i took the jumper off and I hopped in to the bios and everything i had changed was back to normal, but it still won't boot from CD... so

so you need to start narrowing things down one by one. first thing i'd probably do is steal a working cd-rom from another computer and try that out in there. if it works then you know something is wrong with the drive. i don't know though dude, weird problem. feel free to hit me up on aim tomorrow if you can't figure it out.

edit: Damn you Loser!
he said he COULD boot from a different cd, just not the windows one. but the windows ones do work in another computer.
this was one still sealed in the box I never used from about 6 years back
