No Lament, papers wont be needed, but for some reason (still unknown to you) everyone leaving the city is being searched. Isaac has noticed that there are caravans leaving the city toward Vienna, following the river, though these caravans do not seem to be exempt. No one seems really willing to talk about it.

this sounds like a job for Isaac and VH to investigate

Lament could use the Hand of Fate Ritual to help in our search, though it might be a bit more problematic.
It tends to show the way to the greatest reward for the question asked.
So if I would ask it 'which exit of the city would offer us a way out, with the least resistance?' it might either show us the exit with the least amount of guards, or the exit with guards that have the highest amount of gold they're carrying.
I think leaving the city is the sort of thing that Abram (and apparently Isaac) are not content to do until they find out what the trouble is... it could be relevant to their current mission. What if Count Dracula has his claws in Linz as well?
Perhaps Lament can conspire with the professor to use their powers to get some clues through the use of their rituals.

Two heads better than one, right?
I guess the Prof's idea is better. Let's see what we'll find/hear.
Note to self: Buy the Speak with Dead ritual once I get the chance.
their assistant. Sounds good, if I could get the religion and arcana checks required for hand of fate and seek rumor respectively?
Stap, youve got alot going on right now, so I can run minron if you like.
Shady, any other weigh ins? or other methods youll persue while the rituals will be taking place?
No thats ok I got it. Thanks though. I would have posted more this week but there wasn't a huge need for Minron's services, and as you said there is a lot going on.
If anyone thinks it necessary I could always bash some heads for information. But I have a feeling that it will draw more attention than we want. So I'll just assume that Minron is laying low like a good boy.

Regarding Hand of Fate:
1) Since I'm an Invoker, I can (once per day) use Hand of Fate without expending components.
2) Hand of Fate's Key Skill is religion, but says no check is required.
3) I think I'll help VH with his Seek Rumour Ritual (for fear of leading everyone in a guard patrol, should they have more coins on them than any other patrol), since HOF tends to direct the user to the route with the highest possible reward.
So I'll assist VH with his Seek Rumor ritual (Arcana check): 16
So now, VH has a +2 bonus to his Arcana check for Seek Rumor.
You sit in meditation and let rumor drift into your mind, blown in on the wind of the community consciousness. Your Arcana check for this ritual counts as a Streetwise check for gathering information. Treat the Streetwise DC as 5 higher. You learn only information you could pick up by a normal use of the Streetwise skill.
Right all. Speaking of alot happening. In AZ. bout to go out with Stap. Game will resume full speed tomorrow, and I expect enough downtime for me this week to get the game moving forward with speed this week.
Cheers all.
After closing your eyes, clearing your mind, and attuning yourself to the Ether around you, it becomes clear to you the situation. The world around you slowly focuses. The archbishop has been under advisement from am unknown source, recently imposing this martial law at their suggestion. The reason for the martial law seems to lie in the impression that vagabonds, and monsters guised humans, are traipsing across the country, raping, pillaging, and destroying the peace that has barely been known for months. The monsters have supposedly been stirred by the recent miltary activities. So all travelers, especially those headed to Vienna, have been accosted, while no humans especially have been detained, and many arrested not to be seen again.
It also slowly creeps into your ears that there is a hidden way out of town, away from the guards. The details nearly come into focus, the slip back out before being able to pinpoint the path.
it seems like something is fishy in the city of Linz
Abram will be inclined to attempt an investigation rather than bug out
what will the rest of the party think?

Lament will stay at the Inn, if only to avoid suspicions placed on the Professor and Isaac (since they seem to suspect monsterous humanoids, which Lament unfortunately is) should she were travelling with them. Maybe Shady could pass herself off better than the rest of us monsters and tag along with Prof. and company. Lamnet will probably go and check out the window for suspicious activities (like guards taking irregular patrols etc.)
Don't forget Horse, that Lament helped the Prof. in the ritual.
Ok, so obvious you are gonna try to figure out what you can do to relieve the oppresion against demi humans, or at least gain public travel to Vienna, so you dont need to hide the whole way there. Near as you can tell, this archbishop is not actually in Linz. The local militia is only carrying out the order.
Perhaps some more direct Streetwise or diplomacy checks, (Shady) and some intimidate checks (Minron) could allow you to discern how the local populace, or even the military members feel about the demi-human blockade, in hopes a solution might present itself.
The more human member could also try meeting with the city officials, explaining the predicament, to see if there is anything that can be done.
Shady, I suggest pulling a Spock (headband over pointy ears = not suspicious at all) and going with Abram and Isaac. The professor will want you to come along.
And Lament... Abram owes you two for helping out with the ritual and babysitting Igor while VH is out and about with the other two. Try not to let the little guy and the big guy get into trouble! I mean, you got like a Muppet Babies situation on your hands... it's like a female Rolf trying to keep an eye on Animal and Gonzo.

i'm going to use some of the cash for rituals/formulae and probably buy a low level item or two

the professor and lament say differently!
Or do we wait for the other's responses?
Or do we wait for TS?
unless TS has something else in mind
we go to the inn, the Prof and Lament cast their rituals in the room while the others keep an eye out downstairs and make sure they're not disturbed.
also, Igor will be there to assist. the guy has to learn what's what in the business of being an Igor.
Stap, youve got alot going on right now, so I can run minron if you like.

Aaand...
Arcana: 1d20+10+2 25
So. I guess that's the equivalent of getting a 15 on a streetwise check.
TS if you could tell me what it's about and then I can do an IC post for Abram performing the ritual
(i have some neat ideas about that)
It would be much appreciated!
Cheers all.

Making us think it was the DM, when it was you all along that neglected your post!

i shall get one posted today

voyage home
if you're a non-human with pointy ears
all you need is a headband and people are cool about it
especially if we go to medieval olive garden
IIRC it gives you a bonus to Diplomacy checks for attempting to sex up green women.

But wouldn't you guys need Minron for some Intimidate checks?
Figured nothing would scare a lone guardsman than a hulking norwegian barbarian towering over him.
