    Why would you need an extension to play netflix in chrome? I don't have the beta and I already watch netflix in chrome.

    it kinda works, but still, tab handling and mouse gestures feel wayy slower and more unresponsive than in Opera.

    Yeah, I dunno. It's pretty responsive for me, but I'm running x32. *shrug*

    Yeah, I've been sitting here for a full year, refusing to browse the web because Chrome wasn't working on my mac.

    And then there's problems with extensions? Fuck the internet it's not worth it.

    I'll still be using Firefox as my main browser on my desktop just cause all the useful productivity and work add-ons, but holy shit, Chrome is my new Netbook and laptop browser. So smooth and minimal. And Smoothscroll? Christ on a popsicle stick.

    No, there isn't. Chrome has had a too short timeout timer for awhile now. It's been noted before. Maybe they'll add one. If you can set up the proper environment to compile the source code I'm sure you could up it. But good luck with that.

    Still pretty cool to finally be able to use this.

    This site has a bookmarklet that you can use on an extension's page to re-enable the Install button on Chrome for Mac

    Has anyone noticed the advertising everywhere?

    Over here in the UK i've been seeing adverts for Chrome everywhere. It seems Google are really pushing hard.

    I haven't checked a nightly in about a month but have they done/fixed any of the following yet?

    * Good cookie handling
    * Good certificate handling
    * Ability to disable google id privacy invading stuff
    * Good bookmark handling (like Firefox has awesome tagging etc)
    * I'm guessing they still use that stupid google update thing

    Bookmark manager's pretty much the same. I've never had any troubles with cookie handling. The current dev channel build has a problem with the taskbar in Windows 7 (if it's pinned, a new Chrome icon/group will appear without the jumplist) and they haven't updated for two weeks now. Which is really annoying.

    Also, yeah, given that it's still a Google program and the program still needs to update itself, it still uses the Google updater. Depends what aspect of it you dislike. It still auto-starts with Windows, if that's what you're after.

    They changed it to a scheduled task awhile ago, so it doesn't eat up memory all the time now as far as I can tell.

    I just switched over due to this thread and Firefox being a slow piece of shit on my machine. <3 you Firefox, but c'mon.

    So far, this is nice. https://chrome.google.com/extensions/detail/dneehabidhbfdiohdhbhjbbljobchgab is a recommended addon from myself, puts a little icon in your bar to give you a bookmark drop down menu.

    There's also a command line switch for that, --bookmark-menu. Not exactly the same thing, but it gives a 'normal' bookmark menu. Might as well mention the --purge-memory-button switch, too, which puts a purge memory button in the task manager.

    If you're not using keyboard shortcuts, you're not doing it right. :P Also, Chrome's far more responsive for me with 10+ tabs than Opera or Firefox were. It's actually the most responsive browser I've used since... Firefox 1.x, I think.

    I've never used a browser extension in my life either.

    They just seem like systems designed to make browsers even more bloated and ugly. I already miss when Chrome was a tiny, sleek browser. Now it's just as bad as every other browser out there.

    edit - on second thought, I dumped a little bit too much hyperbole into that post. I'm sure chrome is still small and speedy. I just hate extensions.

    Decreases. It stops ads from loading on the page, letting you have a nice clean experience. And you can turn it off for sites like, say, Penny-Arcade.

    There's no reason NOT to have Adblock. Other than laziness.

    Pages already load quickly, what difference does .1 second make? I just don't have a need or want for it or any other extension so until they come out with something totally fuckawesome then I'm going to stick with a vanilla browser.

    Anyone notice that in Windows 7 RC, if you have Google Chrome pinned to the taskbar and you open it up, a duplicate of Chrome opens up, where all following Chrome windows will condense on the duplicate, rather than the pinned icon?

    I hear that's fixed in v4.0.269.0 but I don't see that download available yet.

    Yeah, it's a bug in 4.0.266.0 and it's been three weeks since a dev channel update. :? Oddly enough, the Options window and Bookmark Manager both come up under the pinned icon. There are other bugs, too, in this build, like not being able to add words to the dictionary in the context menu.

    Is there any reason why pages would load slower on Chrome than in Firefox? Sites seem to chug a bit at the start up in Chrome but are almost instant in Firefox.

    So I really like browsing full screen mode. But I hate having to exit to type in the address bar. I am looking for an extension that will pop up a fully functional address bar via a key command, or (preferably) a right click.

    I found one extension that did, MyAddressBar, but it was a dumbed down address bar that didn't have the auto-complete or smart search functions of the main chrome bar, and apparently couldn't be toggled off if you hit the hotkey by accident. You were forced to refresh the page to remove it.

    Couldn't find anything else like what I had in mind. Anyone know of something similar for other browsers so that I may have hope it will be done right in Chrome?
